October is just around the corner so it’s time to start thinking about Halloween.
Pumpkin picking is a great way to have some fun and get your home ready for 31st October. We’ve rounded up eight of the best pumpkin picking sites in and around Merseyside.
The Pumpkin Patch, Orrell Hill Lane, Hightown
Opens at 9am on 1st October every day until 31st October.
No booking required and no entry fee. Pay for what you pick.
Cash or card, refreshments available, picnic area and a variety of pumpkins.
They say: “Our pumpkins have been growing nicely and are looking well so we’re expecting a wonderful sea of orange again this year.”

Church View Farm, Southport Road, Lydiate
Opens at 9am on 1st October, until 31st October or sold out.
No booking required and no admission charge. Pay for what you pick.
Fairground, Triviso Ice Cream and a hot food van providing refreshments.
They say: “We hand sow the seeds and plant each seedling in our fields. They are our babies so please take care of them.”

Opens 1st October, Monday – Saturday 10am-5pm, closes 4pm on Sundays.
No booking required this year.
Pumpkins £5 each.
Bouncy castle, face painting and a set for photos.
They say: “This season we have grown baby white ones, large white ones and blood moon pumpkins as well as our XXL ones.”

Opens 10am on 8th October, until all the pumpkins are gone.
No booking required. Pay per kg for what you pick.
Refreshments available in the café and farm shop.

Halloween Trail, Benty Farm Tearooms, Thurstaston Woods, Wirral
Opens 5th October-30th October.
No booking required.
£5 per child, with a Halloween gift at the end of the trail.
They said: “The trail takes place around the pumpkin patch and includes answering questions and filling in the missing words.”

No booking required and no entry fee.
There will be carving inside the marquee for pumpkins sold at the farm. An extra £4 per pumpkin carved.

Birchall’s Pumpkin Patch, Reeds Lane, Rainford
Open 1st-31st October
This year Birchall’s have joined forces with Willowbrook Hospice for a Spooky Scarecrow competition with great prizes and costing £5 to enter, which will be donated to the hospice. See their Facebook pages for further info.
