There are some spooky goings on across the city this October – and families are going to shiver with excitement.

From pumpkin pantos to fright festivals and ghoulish fun and games, it’s all going on in Liverpool this Halloween, if you dare to have a gruesomely great time…

Pumpkin Festival – Farmer Ted’s Adventure Farm, Ormskirk

The thrill and spills of Halloween are creating fantastic fun at Farmer Ted’s throughout October with its famously fearsome Pumpkin Festival. You can go in search of the perfect pumpkin to carve, brave the Dead Scary Sunflower Maze with a bewitching adventure through a world of faded petals and ​​​​​mysterious shadows, and even go on their first ever Purple Pumpkin Hunt.  You can enjoy all that – and dinosaurs too – on Saturdays and Sundays from October 7, and all half term between Wednesday, October 25 and Tuesday, October 31.

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is celebrating 12 years of its Spooky Welly Walk Liverpool, so get ready to pop on your wellies, raise funds for a fab cause and enjoy a spooktacular family day out. There’ll be around 30 awesome attractions and activities to bewitch and bedazzle your little monsters at Sefton Park on Saturday, October 21, from creepy crafts to a freaky funfair, and a bugfest beauty parlour to menacing mask making, plus some surprises and giveaways throughout the day.

The Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade – BeWILDerwood, Cheshire

BeWILDerwood’s famous Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade is back so you can see the woods in a whole new light. You start your adventure by crafting your own Boggle Bindle Lantern to help the Boggles light up the woods at Hazel’s Hideaway, then embark on a journey through the twilight woodland, watching the magical story unfold as you journey though. Don’t worry if you aren’t the bravest Boggle – it’s spooky not scary! On Saturday and Sunday, October 14-15, and Thursday, October 19 to Tuesday, October 31.

You can enjoy the farm’s usual attractions, including pedal go-karts, tractor rides, animal feeding and an adventure playground, as well as a host of special fun and spooky activities like a barrel train ride and a Halloween Skull Search. You can even pick your own pumpkin to take home and carve. The event is on from Saturday, September 30, to Sunday, October 29.

Go batty at Otterspool’s ‘Ottersghoul’ Event which promises some creepingly cracking Halloween fun between Friday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 31. You can (if you dare) enter the Hallowed grounds of Old Burial Hill and take the Tombstone Trail through the ancient graveyard, dance your way round the park in the Pumpkin Party parade, and watch, ‘Villainous’, its family show starring some of the most infamous villains of all time (but be warned – they have a diabolical plan and it’s up to you to stop them before it’s too late!).

It’s Halloween at The Storybarn and between Saturday, October 28 to Sunday, November 5 you’re invited you to show off your frightful fancy dress, play ghostly games, and create a spooktacular craft to take home at its Storybarn specials inspired by Flavia Drago’s new book Vlad, the Fabulous Vampire.

Raver Tots are back for a massive Halloween Party and promise it’ll be the best family dance party, playing house, garage, and drum & bass. Fancy dress is encouraged and there’ll be huge effects throughout the event with dancers, performers, cold pyro, bubbles, festival-sized confetti blasts, multi-coloured lasers and lighting, parachute games, giant balloons, a bar and face painting!

Scenic Outdoor Theatre is presenting the Pumpkin Patch Pantomime at Speke Hall with four performances from Tuesday, October 31 to Wednesday, November 1. In an hour-long ‘laugh-a-minute’ traditional show, find out if Horrid-Horrabella manages to take over the Pumpkin Patch and ruin everyone’s Halloween.
