If you watched the most recent series of Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off (GBBO), then you will be familiar with baker Mark Lutton.
Mark managed to make it to week six before being eliminated from the show.
Now, back home in Liverpool, after a summer competing on the show, Mark has decided to try and keep people entertained over lockdown with the launch of a new project.
Mark, originally from Northern Ireland, has called Liverpool his home for almost a decade now, and has followed a number of previous bakers hailing from Liverpool to compete on the show.
Speaking to Mark, he explains that he wasn’t even sure he would get on the show after quite a substantial audition process and had almost accepted defeat before he got the final call to say he had made it on to the show.
But, he did make it on to the show and managed to reach Japanese week, before unfortunately being eliminated. Using his skill in baking, passion for cooking and love of travel across the world, he has now launched a new project for this month – The World At Your Table.
Mark says: “Travel has been a huge part of my life and Iāve been so fortunate to visit lots of incredible countries. But I miss it. I miss the excitement of going somewhere new, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. And food has always been at the heart of my love for travel.
“Iāll be sharing a recipe from a different country every single day, for a whole entire month on my Instagram.
“Iām hoping that itāll bring some inspiration to your kitchens in this tough year. Iāve also got some live cook alongs planned with incredible people.”
The project is well underway and Mark has posted recipes for dishes from South Africa, Hungary, Australia and more up to now, which you can all head to his Instagram page and see for yourself.
If the project goes well, Mark has said that he will continue it in some form after this month.
