Watch: How you can support the people of Ukraine as urgent shipment of donations gets set to leave Liverpool
3 years ago
Here’s how you can support the people of Ukraine right now via Liverpool and a new campaign launched by Polskie Merseyside on County Road
As the crisis in Ukraine continues to unfold, the people of Liverpool naturally want to know what they can do to support those suffering most from the Russian invasion.
Michael Francowiak, co-founder of Polskie Merseyside – a support group for people from Poland – has come up with a way to get vital supplies to their Ukrainian neighbours, many of who will now be seeking refuge in Poland.
He’s helped to set up Polish & British Solidarity with Ukraine, who will have three lorries leaving from Wrexham this Friday, filled with much needed supplies for those who have been displaced as a result of the war.
The campaign needs your help to gather these supplies and are asking for you to donate clothes, toys, toiletries, nappies, blankets, thermals and more essential items for Ukrainian families.
With estimates suggesting that at least 7 million people are likely to be displaced, your donations will be needed and very much welcomed.
You can drop off items at Polskie Merseyside on County Road until Thursday, before the lorries leave Wrexham on Friday.
Michale says that the team have worked on hard on clearing customs and making sure no barriers are on the way of the donations reaching the people of Ukraine who will depend on them.
Donations could include warm clothing, blankets, toiletries, toys, nappies or thermals.
