Hundreds of families came together for the day, taking on an obstacle course while being plastered with paint in support of Elsie’s Story.

Over 600 runners of all ages took part in the annual Colour Run at Southport Rugby Club on Saturday (6th June 2026), raising funds for the Elsie’s Story charity.

The town’s most colourful and crazy fundraising event returned to Waterloo Road for its third year after its sell-out success last year.

The day was sponsored by Broadley Developments and was hosted by Trevor Ford from Mighty Radio and local singer Kelly Bond who not only presented, but also joined in and ran in the Colour Run too.

A Southport Rugby Club spokesperson said:

“What a fantastic day at Southport RFC for this year’s Southport Colour Run!

“As a club, we were delighted to host and organise such a brilliant community event in support of Elsie’s Story, raising money for a truly fantastic cause.

“A huge thank you to everyone who came down, took part, donated, supported and helped make the day such a success.

“Every person who signed up, ran, walked, cheered, volunteered or contributed played a part in supporting the fundraising, and we are extremely grateful.

“We would also like to thank all of our event sponsors and supporters: Broadley Developments, EFT Group, Bartons, CSTA Global, Mighty Radio, Everlast Gyms, Kelly Bond, ZED Productions and Andrew Brown of Stand Up For Southport. Your support helped make the event possible and contributed to a brilliant day for the club and wider community.

“A very special thank you must go to Sue Astwood, alongside her team and all of the volunteers, for their incredible work in bringing the event together.

“Sue has been at the heart of Southport RFC for many years, and with this being her final Colour Run before stepping down, it was fitting to see such a fantastic event delivered in her usual style.
