Check out this Merseyside farmers market including its resident pigs
2 years ago
February is the perfect time to get wrapped up against the cold and head out to the countryside. And what better way to enjoy a relaxed winter Sunday than a visit to a farmers market?
Sunnyfields in Hightown, near Formby, is a farm shop and nursery with a difference and they have the most beautiful farmers market.
There is a butchers shop on site that offers the finest cuts of meat, as well as local produce like free range eggs form nearby Halsall.
It also has a range of gifts, and if you get chilly you can enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate from the Watering Can booth.
But it’s the farmers markets that really bring this picturesque patch of Sefton countryside to life.
These events have been growing in size and popularity in the last year, and the next one on Sunday 12th February is going to be really special.
Open from 10am-3pm, it’s going to feature a wide variety of local traders offering everything from food and drinks, to pet toys, soaps and home fragrances.
It is a great way to do something different and support small businesses, and if past experience is anything to go by you can even try before you buy with some of the gorgeous food on sale.
Sunnyfield’s say:
“We’ve been working hard to bring you our biggest event yet and it looks like it’s going to be a good one.”
There will be stalls from:
Brennan’s Cider
The Weird and Wonderful Cheese Company
Ma Joyce’s Bakehouse
Eshe Honey
Chocolatinos
The Felt Factory
PC Little Spoon
Molly’s Pet Toys
Illustrations by Hilary
Scent My Word Home Fragrance
Tiger muffin Soaps
The Busy Bee Boutique
There will also be plants for the garden, a packed butcher’s counter and other food goodies on sale in the farm shop.
You can even meet the resident Sunnyfields pigs
You will find Sunnyfields in North End Lane, L38 4JB, just off the Formby By-pass.
If you’re still feeling energetic after all that shopping you can head along to Formby for a walk on the beach.
Or if you want to stay in the area for Sunday lunch, then we can highly recommend The Hightown pub just down the road, who do a lovely roast, with vegetarian options available.
