Sparkles and Spectres this Christmas at the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse

After a record-breaking 2022 festive season, tickets are now on sale for a Christmas full of sparkles and spectres with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto Cinderella at the Everyman from Friday 17^thNovember to Saturday 20^th January and the West End hit The Woman in Black at the Playhouse from Tuesday 5^th to Saturday 30^th December.

For Cinderella, Creative Director Suba Das once again leads a brilliant team for the legendary Everyman Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto, including the return of Rob Green as Musical Director, nominated in the UK Pantomime Awards for Best Contribution to Music for last year’s Red Riding Hood. It will be written by two phenomenally talented North West writers: Luke Barnes (whose credits include All We Ever Wanted Was Everything at the Bush, Bottleneck at Soho, and shows for the Young Vic, Hampstead Theatre, Leeds Playhouse, Middle Child, Manchester Royal Exchange, the Almeida, Hull Truck and National Theatre Connections, as well as a national tour of Cinderella with Not Too Tame theatre); and Sonia Jalaly (a member of BBC Writersroom Comedy Room, who’s since written for CBBC and CBeebies, and theatres including Kiln, Donmar Warehouse and Hull Truck, as well as co-writing last year’s panto for The Lyric Hammersmith).

Bursting with banging pop and rock tunes, Cinderella is a show that will have you singing and dancing along, no matter what your age. With heaps of sass, silliness and sparkle, our awesomely talented actor musicians will bring the classic fairy tale to life in surprising style.

Meanwhile at the Playhouse, Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black will have a ghostly festive residency in Liverpool as part of a UK tour after over 13,000 performances in the West End. Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation of Susan Hill’s best-selling novel tells the story of a lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over his family by the spectre of a ‘Woman in Black’. He engages a young actor to help him tell his story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It begins innocently enough, but as they delve further into his darkest memories the borders between make-believe and reality begin to blur and the flesh begins to creep.

On sharing their plans for Christmas, Creative Director for the theatres, Suba Das said:

“It was an absolute joy to direct last year’s Red Riding Hood and we’re already working our glass slippers off to ensure you’ll have a ball with us this Christmas for Cinderella. I’m excited to get started! After the success of SIX last year, I’m thrilled to be bringing another of the West End’s biggest hits to the city with the Playhouse being the perfect venue for the gripping tale of The Woman in Black. Together we can promise you a great night out. With an array of accessible ticket prices and performances available, we do encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment, after last year’s sell-out success.”
