This is no joke! A Wirral comedy venue is offering free tickets in exchange for telling a gag on arrival!
Thornton Hough Comedy Club returns with a tasty line-up and a pre-show pie – on Friday, June 12.
Aware that the summer throws up lots of options, DBN Events which runs the pro night of comedy featuring four comedians from the UK circuit at Thornton Hough Village Club is offering comedy lovers a rib-tickling deal.
To help get another full house, organisers are offering a two tickets for the price of one deal with one condition – you have to tell a joke when you check in on the door!

Actor and Wirral resident Dean Boodaghians-Nolan, the brains behind the comedy night said:
“We have another brilliant line-up and thought offering a two for one deal in exchange for your best joke as you arrive would be a fun way to give people a bargain night out and ensure we have a laughter-filled room!”
Dean, whose credits include the TV series House of the Dragon and the latest Disney incarnation of Snow White, said:
“The calibre of acts we are attracting from the UK comedy scene to our lovely, intimate venue is superb and we have pies on offer too as our unofficial warm-up! It should be a great night.”

The night will be headlined by the hilarious Dave Williams.
A full-time comedian since 1998, Dave is booked by a wide range of bookers and venues and has performed overseas in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Australia, including a week headlining the Sydney Comedy Store.
He has also performed in Cyprus for soldiers returning from Afghanistan. Dave has been a contributor to Radio 4 Extra’s topical comedy show Newsjack. In 2014 Dave supported Tom Stade on part of his tour, including the gigs that were filmed for Tom’s live DVD.
The opening act is the loveable scamp Chris Giles.
Yorkshire-based Chris’s style of storytelling, observational comedy, as well as sound for like impersonations, and crowd interaction has seen him perform all over the country. He’s gained himself a reputation for being a very entertaining stand up not to be missed.
There’ll also be a set from James Allen.
A 2018 Chortle Student Finalist, James delivers whimsical tales of personal embarrassment that have seen him support George Lewis and Hayley Ellis on tour.
The show will be hosted by quick-fire gag merchant Ben Turner, a World One Liner Championship and Comedy Cellar Yorkshire New Act of the Year finalist.
