Why you should get into town this summer – there’s something everyday for everyone in Liverpool City Centre

Whether you’re six or 66, there’s no shortage of events and activities to keep you bright and busy in the city this summer.

Because from music to art, food and fabulous shops, shows or just the stunning views that’ll bring you in, when it comes to having a great time when the sun’s shining – and when it’s not – Liverpool is definitely the place to be.

There are year-round attractions like the great galleries and museums that draw people in week in and week out, as well as the prized theatres which are host to some of the biggest plays and musicals around; and on top of that there are tons of specially-created things to see and do too.

Because in Town there’s something Everyday for Everyone.

If you’re a fan of musicals, some of the best are touring in Liverpool this summer, like Wicked, Hairspray, and – ready to lift you up – An Officer and A Gentleman.

For those who love their food what about trying one of the many amazing new restaurants from Stoke at Radisson RED to Pomegranate on Old Hall Street, or any number of established eateries from the calm and casual Quarter to fine dining at The Art School or The London Carriage Works … or one of the many venues to choose from in Liverpool ONE.

Our two cathedrals are certainly worth a visit. And from Saturday, August 10 to Sunday, September 15, Liverpool Cathedral will be home to Monadic Singularity, a once-in-a-lifetime show by Anish Kapoor with works spanning 25 years and including architecturally-scaled pieces never before seen in the UK.

You might just want to meet friends for drinks in the sun – and there are so many bars with great roof terraces like Oh-Me-Oh-My, Roxy Ball Room on Hanover Street, Tempest on Tithebarn, and more.

Or you might be on the hunt for a gift or an outfit from one of the many independent stores for which the city’s famous, or fancy blowing away the cobwebs with a stroll along the magnificent waterfront (albeit you’ll be tempted to stop and have a look around The Royal Albert Dock for sure).

Want to save your cash? Not a problem – there are fantastic free events being planned for this summer by Liverpool BID Company, like:

Celebrating Castle Street on August 4, and Celebrating Bold Street on August 11, when both roads will be closed so they can come alive with cooking demonstrations, competitions, workshops, and family-friendly activities.

The fun in the Castle Street area will include pop-up bars, yoga sessions, giant puppets of the Fab Four, and music; while Bold Street will have marching bands, DJs, craft markets, giant performing flamingos, a record fair at the Bombed Out Church, and a taste of golf with One Under.

On Saturday, August 31, it’s time for the Last Day of Summer, a free family waterfront event with music, performances, food and drink offers, family activities, and more.

You might have a free diary now, but it’s going to get filled up before you know it (with the only hard part deciding what to pick from such a wide and varied choice).

Thankfully, whatever you decide, you know you’ll be guaranteed a warm welcome wherever you go because Liverpool is open to all – accessible and friendly, and made for everyone.

So visit Liverpool and enjoy Summer in this fabulous city.
