M&S Bank Arena staff donate gifts from their Christmas Party fund to young people in Toxteth
1 day ago
A group of employees CleanEvent Staff at the M&S Bank Arena have spread festive cheer to the young people of Toxteth EL8TE CIC, a community basketball group, by donating gifts purchased with their work Christmas party fund.
Instead of spending the ÂŁ750 allocated for their holiday celebration on dinner and drinks, the M&S Bank Arena staff made the generous decision to use the money to support their community. They bought gifts, including basketballs, hoops, socks, hats, and toiletries, for the young athletes of Toxteth EL8TE. This organisation provides a safe and inspiring space for hundreds of local young people to build teamwork, discipline, and basketball skills.
The surprise delivery of gifts left the young people and leaders of Toxteth EL8TE overwhelmed by the team’s generosity. At a time when many families are facing challenges due to the cost-of-living crisis, rising bills, and financial pressures, acts of kindness like this provide much-needed support and bring hope to the community.
Venue Presentation Manager of CleanEvent Staff, Brenda Portman said:
“We always look for opportunities to give something back to the community, especially during the festive season when support is needed most. My sister introduced me to Toxteth EL8TE, and I was truly blown away by the incredible opportunities they provide for our young people. Their commitment to nurturing talent, building confidence, and creating a safe space for the growth and development of young people is truly inspiring. We were delighted to support their fantastic work in this way and hope it brings some extra joy to the young people this festive season.Â
Emile Coleman, Co-Founder of Toxteth EL8TE CIC said:
“On behalf of Toxteth EL8TE, I am profoundly grateful to the incredible CleanEvent team at M&S Arena for their generosity. Their decision to forgo their Christmas party and instead invest in the young people of our community speaks volumes about the power of kindness and collective action. These gifts are more than just basketball equipment or essentials; they represent hope, encouragement, and a belief in the potential of our young people. This act of goodwill will inspire our athletes and remind them that they are supported by a community that cares. We are deeply touched and thank Brenda Portman & Debi McAndrew at MRVP for being part of our journey to empower and uplift the next generation.”
Since its founding in 2022, Toxteth EL8TE CIC has quickly become a hub of basketball excellence in Liverpool, UK. Located in the heart of Toxteth, it is more than just a sports program; it’s a movement dedicated to developing young talent, inspiring a passion for basketball, and driving positive change within the community. The generous donation from M&S Arena employees showcases the impact of collective goodwill and the vital role of supporting community initiatives.
