Everton in the Community shines at heartwarming Blue Heart Awards at BOXPARK Liverpool
2 hours ago

It was a night full of pride, passion and powerful stories as Everton in the Community rolled out the blue carpet at BOXPARK Liverpool for its annual Blue Heart Awards – a dazzling evening celebrating the people who make the Club’s official charity so special.
Backed by sponsors Home Bargains, the ceremony brought together hundreds of supporters, partners and participants to honour those at the beating heart of more than 60 life-changing programmes run by EitC across Merseyside.
Hosted by Giulia Bould and Sarah Halpin, the evening began with a charming dance performance from the charity’s Premier League Primary Stars pupils, setting the tone for an emotional and inspiring night. Everton icons Leighton Baines and Rachel Brown-Finnis were welcomed on stage to present a series of 13 awards, including the Spirit of Volunteering, Charity Champion, and Community Impact of the Year.
Former Lioness and Everton goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis said:
“To see how Everton in the Community has continued to grow and make a real difference since my playing days is incredible. Tonight’s been all about recognising the people driving that work – it’s been an honour to be here.”
Among the standout stories of the night was EitC participant Joe, who received the Minds Award after turning his life around with the charity’s support:
“I can’t even explain how much EitC has changed my life. They were there for me when I felt like no one else could be – and now I’ve got a new sense of purpose.”
The prestigious CEO Award, chosen by Chief Executive Officer Sue Gregory, was a moving tribute to an anonymous participant from the Tackling the Blues programme, who had been directly affected by the tragic Southport attacks in 2023.
Speaking on the night, Sue said:
“This event is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Every person here tonight is part of something bigger – and the life-changing impact of our work shines through in every story. I couldn’t be prouder.”
Home Bargains’ Head of Charity, Matt Morris, who presented the Sponsors Award, added:
“We’re a Liverpool-based, family-run company, so it’s vital for us to support local causes that align with our values – and EitC truly does. It’s been a joy to be part of tonight.”
The event was supported by Print Partner Oriel Studios, Awards Partner Wild Thang, and BOXPARK Liverpool, who helped create a night to remember for all involved.
