The Beatles Story to celebrate Ringo Starr’s birthday with free event
5 hours ago

Get ready for a magical moment of global unity right here in Liverpool, as The Beatles Story gears up to mark Ringo Starr’s milestone 85th birthday with a heartfelt celebration of his iconic Peace and Love message.
Every year on his birthday since 2008, Ringo has invited fans all over the world to pause at 12 noon (local time) to say, think, or post “Peace and Love.” What started as a personal tradition has since grown into a worldwide celebration—a powerful, simple call for kindness and togetherness.
Once again, Liverpool is doing it in style.
On Sunday 7 July, fans and visitors are encouraged to gather outside The Beatles Story at the Royal Albert Dock, where a special Peace and Love moment will be filmed and shared on Ringo’s official Facebook page, joining celebrations taking place across the globe. But this year’s event is extra special.
In honour of Ringo’s birthday and his lifelong message of peace, The Beatles Story will also be unveiling a brand-new Ringo Starr Peace and Love Sculpture—a striking tribute to one of Liverpool’s most iconic sons.
Handcrafted using an original casting of Ringo’s right hand, the sculpture is a literal and symbolic gesture—showing that Ringo has always had a hand in spreading peace. Made by skilled artisans, it blends thoughtful design with a powerful message and will be displayed as part of the celebration.
This limited-edition piece is part of a global initiative by the Ringo Starr organisation, with just a few being shared with select cultural institutions around the world. Liverpool is now officially one of them.
The sculpture will be on display outside The Beatles Story during the 7 July event, giving fans a chance to see it up close and reflect on Ringo’s personal mission of Peace and Love—right in the city where it all began.
Gary Astridge, from Ringo’s Peace and Love Initiative, said:
“We are pleased to be partnering with the Beatles Story in showcasing Ringo’s Peace & Love statue in his hometown of Liverpool, creating opportunities for reflection, and events based on the Peace & Love Initiative.”
The day isn’t just about celebration—it’s also a chance to shine a light on The Lotus Foundation, the charitable organisation founded by Ringo and his wife Barbara. The Foundation supports vital causes including cancer patients, domestic violence survivors and animal welfare—echoing the compassion Ringo has championed for decades.
Mary Chadwick, General Manager of The Beatles Story, added:
“We’re excited to be hosting Ringo’s birthday celebration on behalf of Liverpool once again here at The Beatles Story this July. After the success of last year’s event, it’s becoming a real tradition for the city and an opportunity for fans to come together and share in Ringo’s global message of Peace and Love. Pairing this with the unveiling of our Ringo Starr Peace and Love Sculpture, we’re incredibly proud to play our part in spreading a message of peace from the place where it all began.”
So whether you’re a lifelong Beatles fan or simply love what Ringo stands for, make sure you’re there on 7 July to take part in a moment of joy, reflection, and togetherness—Liverpool style.
