Wirral’s Thornton Hough Village Club brings laughs and local bites this September
4 days ago

It’s comedy meets chippy tea as Thornton Hough Village Club & Bar gets ready for another night of stand-up and proper local scran this September.
The cosy Wirral venue Thornton Hough Village Club, has turned its comedy nights into a sell-out hit since DBN Events, run by local actor Dean Boodaghians-Nolan, started bringing big laughs to the village last year.
On Friday 12 September, comedy fans can look forward to another cracking line-up featuring top names from the UK circuit plus tasty food from local favourites Parkgate Fish and Chips and Chows Eating House.
Taking the headline spot this time is Lovdev Barpaga — a circuit gem described by Joe Lycett as “one of the most brilliant daft comics you’ll ever see”. Expect big laughs and plenty of silliness from a comedian who’s as entertained by his own jokes as his audience are.

Support comes from Howard Anstock and Dom Hutchins, with Ben Turner on MC duties. Ben’s a World One Liner Championship finalist and a master of rapid-fire gags — the kind of comic you’ll be quoting on the way home.
To keep everyone fuelled up for the fun, a food truck will be on site serving fresh fish and chips and tasty dishes from Chows, all made by Wirral businesses.
Dean, whose acting credits include Disney’s upcoming Snow White and House of the Dragon, says he’s proud to keep bringing top-quality comedy to his own doorstep.
“We’re expecting another packed house for what’s shaping up to be a brilliant night of comedy and local food,” says Dean. “Where else can you tuck into proper fish and chips while watching some of the UK’s funniest acts? It really is the plaice to be.”
