Freshfields Animal Rescue makes urgent appeal for regular donations

Like many organisations across the UK, Freshfields Animal Rescue is under increasing pressure from rising costs as they rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in desperate need.

Freshfields Animal Rescue rescued over 1000 abandoned, abused and unwanted creatures last year, and many of them needed emergency or significant medical care.

Deb Hughes, Fundraising and PR for Freshfields Animal Rescue, said:

“We have seen our annual costs rise by 20% in the last 4 years, pushing us to our limits. This trend shows no sign of letting up and means that we need to raise 20% more funding each year, just to continue doing what we do and do it well.

The unthinkable alternative is that we help 20% less animals. That means turning away 260 vulnerable animals that we could otherwise help, giving them the food, care, safety and excellent medical care they need.

We are incredibly grateful for all the support we receive. Public donations are vital to us –90% of our funds come from people like you!  It’s only because of you that we’ve been able to help animals in desperate need in our local community for almost 50 years.

Regular donations are a lasting solution. They are simply one of the best ways to help the animals. Having a predictable monthly income means we can plan for the future and maximise the effect of your support.

No donation is too small. If you are able to give a monthly gift, that’s regular income for us and ensures we can be here for all the animals that need us today and tomorrow.”

Here’s how you can help the animals:

  • £5 buys renal diet pouches for a cat for 2 days or feed a hedgehog for a week.
  • £12 buys specialist joint support supplements for a small dog for a week.
  • £15 microchips an animal, so if the worst happens and they are lost, they can be reunited with their family.
  •  £20 vaccinates an animal against disease, saving them from suffering or death.
