Liverpool John Lennon Airport reports busiest month ever

Liverpool John Lennon Airport announces its latest passenger figures, showing that July was the busiest month in the airport’s 92 year history as more and more travellers from across the North West and North Wales choose to make Liverpool their airport of choice.

In July, over 576,000 passengers travelled through the airport, beating the previous busiest month of 569,000 passengers set in August 2007. Last month also saw the airport achieve its busiest single day when over 22,000 passengers used the airport on Monday 28^th July, following the start of the school holidays.

With August normally the busiest month of any year, records at the airport may well be broken once again over the coming weeks, but with the new security equipment having been in operation for a few months now and all works to improve the main food and beverage areas completed ahead of the Summer peak, passengers can look forward to the airport’s renowned high levels of customer experience despite the growing numbers.

John Irving, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, commented:

“To reach our best ever monthly passenger throughput is a tremendous achievement for everyone working at the airport and something that we are all really proud off, particularly when we think back to where we have come from in recent years, when just 4 years ago at the height of the pandemic related travel restrictions, passenger numbers were around 80% down on where we are now.”
