Liverpool Cruise Port reveals pride at sponsoring The Guide Liverpool Heroes
8 seconds ago

Liverpool Cruise Port has spoken of its pride at being headline sponsor of The Guide Liverpool Heroes, celebrating incredible people, businesses, organisations and charities from the city region.
The company, part of Global Ports Holding – the world’s largest cruise port operator – says:
“We are delighted to support the first Guide Liverpool Heroes awards in a city we are now very proud to call home.”
With 33 ports in 21 countries, GPH offers world class facilities and guest experiences, but it adds that while its approach is global, at a local level it focuses on the community and unique culture of each individual port.
“Liverpool is a resilient city due to its remarkable ability to recover and adapt through a history of social, economic, and cultural challenges,” says John Mawer, general manager of Liverpool Cruise Port. “And there are examples of courage, bravery, and kindness every day in this region.
“Liverpool has a deep-rooted sense of identity, solidarity, and pride, and its communities often rally together in difficult times, demonstrating social cohesion and mutual support.”
John continues:
“As a football mad UNESCO City of Music, with an iconic waterfront, diverse culture, and the birthplace of The Beatles, Liverpool has used its cultural assets to reinvent itself and drive tourism and investment.
“The new cruise terminal, built in 2007, was a symbol of this regeneration: Liverpool opening its river once again to international tourists.

“Since then, we have welcomed 1.6 million visitors from cruise ships from all corners of the globe and an economic boost of more than £130m; at the same time securing over 50 local jobs and even more opportunities created by using local suppliers and pipelines.
“As part of our strategic growth, GPH saw an opportunity to acquire a marquee cruise port in the UK, with a growing pipeline of business in a city that makes everybody feel like they are part of the family. A port that is dynamic, innovative, and welcoming.
“We hope that our 50-year deal for Liverpool Cruise Port brings success, community and economic benefits in line with the core values of the people of Liverpool.
“We are very proud to be the headline sponsor of The Guide Liverpool Heroes.”
Voting will be open from Wednesday September 3 to Tuesday September 30 ahead of The Guide Liverpool Heroes awards ceremony which takes place on Friday November 21 at Titanic Hotel.
There will be presentations in a host of different categories, covering everything from fundraisers who go above and beyond for a cause close to their hearts, to grassroots projects making a difference in their local communities and the emergency services who risk their lives for others.
They will also recognise businesses and owners who have made an outstanding contribution to Liverpool as well as those from the worlds of music, TV, film, and sports who represent the city region on a national and global stage.
One person who’s shown an outstanding contribution to Merseyside by significantly enhancing the region’s reputation will be named City Region Superhero.
