A Liverpool-based hospitality operator has now confirmed its latest opening of a new boutique hotel situated in the city centre.
Sefton Collection has solidified 19 Duke Street Boutique Hotel as a high-quality yet accessible property, with it being situated in the city’s most desirable location. Midweek introductory opening rates start from £79 per room.
Located in the previous home of Lock and Key, which was formerly recognised in The Sunday Times “100 Top British Hotels,” the 26-bedroom property combines period character with contemporary comfort. This follows an investment of more than £100,000 to enhance and elevate the building’s original featureswith it being a Grade II-listed Georgian townhouse.
The rooms are all upgraded to include luxury toiletries, Nespresso coffee machines and a range of additional enhanced guest amenities. There is also a 24-hour reception with concierge services, along with housekeeping, free wifi and further enhancements that will be announced in the coming months.

Sitting within a 10-minute walk from Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, The Beatles Story and the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool and just 50 meters from the very popular Liverpool ONE retail and leisure complex.
This new venue brings Sefton Collection’s total number of properties in Liverpool to six, securing its place as the largest privately owned, independent and unbranded hotel collection in the north of England. This means each property retains its own unique identity and character whilst benefiting from group-level services and support.
The new hotel will increase Sefton Collection’s workforce to 160 employees by creating an additional 10 jobs.
Sefton Collection’s other properties also include Ropewalks Hotel and Sefton Park Hotel, the latter currently undergoing a £250,000 refurbishment scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
The group also operates other popular hospitality and entertainment venues that go beyond hotels, such as Masons, Dicey Reilly’s Sports Bar, and the purpose-built event spaces Clubhouse and Baby Clubhouse.
Conor O’Donovan, CEO, Sefton Collection, said:
“19 Duke Street represents an exciting addition to our growing Liverpool portfolio. We are proud to continue investing in the city’s hospitality sector, creating jobs and enhancing historic buildings to deliver high-quality guest experiences in prime city-centre locations.”
