Barry Keoghan’s a new famous fan of Freida Mo Sally’s quirky jewellery

The tag on the necklace she’d made said ‘I’m just awkward’ – but jewellery designer and owner of Freida Mo’s Sally Ayres is ‘just so proud’ after it and other pieces were snapped up by Saltburn and Peaky Blinders star Barry Keoghan.
The actor bought it, together with a Jellytots sugar heart necklace and a vintage rose bracelet, when he called into the Lark Lane shop while filming the Beatles films three weeks ago.
Since then, he’s been photographed in them across the globe – and even called back to show Sally pictures of him wearing his famous buys.
Sally, who’s also chief baker at the popular vintage boutique says; “Every time I see them, I just pinch myself.”
“For someone like him to take a fancy to my jewellery is just shocking, in a positive way, and I’m so flattered.

“It’s been travelling all around the world and seeing it has made me feel a bit goose bumpy and proud … I’ve even cried once with joy! It’s so exciting.”
The Irish actor, who’s starring as Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes’ bio-pics, called into Freida Mo’s with his brother Eric and a member of the Beatles’ production team.
Sally jokes: “They came in wearing masks and my first thought was I’m glad my boyfriend’s here because I thought they were going to rob the place.
“It was only when they took the masks down I realised who it was.
“I’ve had well-known people in before and so I didn’t let on initially, I played it cool as they looked around the shop.”
Unlike the girls working there: “They were completely starstruck. Barry ordered a coffee off one and she couldn’t make it because she was shaking so I had to step in.
“The two girls are usually my chattiest members, but they just clammed up, it was so funny.”

Sally goes on: “I happened to say I made a lot of the jewellery and that got them enthused and they were grabbing bundles of it.
“I didn’t expect Barry Keoghan to wear it so much, but he wore it for an Adidas launch in LA two days ago, for the press launch for the Peaky Blinders film, at the South By Southwest Music Festival in the States, for an Elle magazine shoot …
“I guess he could wear any jewellery, and he’s wearing mine. He has even said he’d like me to make him some more. It’s wonderful.”
Sally says of Keoghan: “He was very kind, slightly shy and just down to earth. He was quite humble.
“He came back twice to show me the pictures and tell me where he’s been wearing the jewellery – and I wasn’t in! He asked for my number so he could send me the photos I shared on social – and I told him to give me more warning next time he’s planning to come in!
“I do like to offer people privacy which is why there are no photos of him in the shop, but when I started seeing it everywhere I thought it was worth sharing … if for nothing else than to show my gratitude!
“He was so lovely and it’s nice to someone enjoying my jewellery – and the exciting journey it’s going on.”
