Positive Futures secures £50,000 to expand vital holiday support for Merseyside Families
49 minutes ago
Positive Futures Liverpool has partnered with the Garfield Weston Foundation for two years to expand its holiday activities across the city.
Supported by a generous £50,000 donation, the charity will enhance its out-of-school services to ensure local youth are supported 360 days a year. Holiday programmes are critical to ensuring young people have reliable access to safe spaces, engaging activities, and trusted mentors during school breaks.
This funding arrives at a crucial time. Positive Futures has experienced a sustained surge in demand, with a record number of families and young people seeking out their services. This growing need underscores how essential reliable, year-round provision is to ensure no young person is left isolated.
Currently, Positive Futures supports over 1,000 young people annually through safe spaces, positive activities, mentoring, and targeted family support. Operating across Liverpool, Knowsley, and Sefton, the charity has established itself as one of Merseyside’s leading youth organisations, dedicated to helping young people feel safe, empowered, and ready to thrive.
The Garfield Weston Foundation is a family-founded grant-maker that funds UK charities making a tangible difference in their local communities. Thanks to this unrestricted two-year grant, Positive Futures has the flexibility to seamlessly expand its holiday support to cover the entire year.

Hannah Allen, CEO of Positive Futures, said:
“Here at Positive Futures, we see firsthand that a young person’s personal growth doesn’t pause when they walk out of the school gates. In fact, 85% of a young person’s time is spent outside the classroom.
“This time can either open new doors or create major barriers, entirely depending on the opportunities available to them.
We are incredibly grateful to the Garfield Weston Foundation for their generous support. Partnerships like this are vital to our work and help us respond to the real challenges young people face beyond the school day.
“For many, school holidays mean a loss of routine, support, and safe environments. This funding allows us to extend our reach, ensuring young people stay supported, engaged, and able to thrive all year round.”
With this new backing, Positive Futures will further strengthen its holiday programmes, delivering more sessions, greater consistency, and expanded opportunities for local families when they need it most.
