A live Mariachi band, keepy-up challenges, prizes, and the tournament’s first match will launch weeks of football festivities as BOXPARK positions itself as Liverpool’s ultimate ‘Home of the Fan’.

BOXPARK Liverpool is gearing up to welcome the World Cup in spectacular fashion with an opening night fan festival. Packed with live entertainment, crowd competitions, free giveaways, and the opening game, the venue will serve as a prime gathering spot for local football supporters as the global tournament gets underway.

On Thursday, 11th June, the opening match between Mexico and South Africa will officially launch BOXPARK Liverpool’s ‘Home of the Fan’ event lineup. Throughout the tournament, the venue will act as a major hub for football enthusiasts, broadcasting every single England game along with the biggest fixtures from the rest of the competition.

The opening night festivities kick off at 6:30pm, with a live Mariachi band treating arriving fans to a taste of Mexico ahead of the first whistle.

Supporters can jump into a busy lineup of fan-focused activities before the action on the pitch begins. The pre-match schedule includes a World Cup quiz, an interactive Spot the Ball game, a boat race challenge, and an eating competition. Following the games, the tournament’s opening ceremony will be broadcast live on the venue’s massive screen before kick-off at 8pm.

Thursday night also marks the launch of BOXPARK Liverpool’s World Cup of Keepy Uppys competition. Running for the duration of the tournament, the challenge gives fans a chance to battle for top prizes, bragging rights, and a coveted spot on the venue’s official leaderboard.

Built to replicate the electric energy and excitement unique to the World Cup, the opening party is set to draw in crowds from across Merseyside and beyond, laying the groundwork for a summer of memorable football.

Famous for its Eat, Drink, Play philosophy, BOXPARK Liverpool blends major sporting events with independent street food, live entertainment, and a vibrant social scene, making it a go-to spot for fans wanting to watch matches in a high-energy crowd.

Matchgoers will have access to food from BOXPARK’s diverse lineup of street food traders, including Shake?, Simply Salt N Pepper, Yoki Social Table, Rogue Pizza Co., The Lids, Falafel Xpress, and Muther Clucker, alongside the soon-to-launch Athenian. Fully stocked bars will also be serving up beers, cocktails, and sharing drinks packages.

While England fixtures are bound to pull in massive numbers, BOXPARK Liverpool is inviting fans of all competing global nations to adopt the venue as their local base, ensuring a multicultural atmosphere that mirrors the spirit of the tournament and the city.

Joel Lee, General Manager at BOXPARK Liverpool, said:

“The World Cup only comes around once every four years, so we wanted to create an opening night that feels like a real celebration rather than just another match screening.

“From the moment fans arrive, they’ll be immersed in the tournament atmosphere. We’ve got live entertainment, competitions, prizes, great food and drink, and of course the opening match on the big screen.

“BOXPARK Liverpool’s ‘Home of the Fan’ is about bringing people together through football. Whether you’re supporting England, Mexico, South Africa or any of the other nations competing, we want this to be the place where fans come together to share those moments and enjoy the tournament together.

“The opening party is just the beginning of what we have planned across the World Cup and we’re so excited to welcome everyone for so many celebrations.”

Admission tickets for the World Cup opening festival and all subsequent tournament screenings are on sale now through the BOXPARK Liverpool website. Tickets for England matches start at £10 per person, with options to include food and drink.

Entry for all Rest of the World group stage matches is completely free, though fans are advised to book early to guarantee a spot.
