Why you need to experience this Liverpool wrestling event live

Most of us have been through a wrestling phase. Watching Superstars like Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart, The Undertaker, and John Cena was always exciting; the bright colours and pyrotechnics were addictive. The old grapples and throws have a certain magic.

WrestleAtomic in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle had me jealous that there wasn’t anything of its kind when I was a kid. Saving up pocket money or begging for WWE tickets on their yearly tour of the UK got too much in the end. WrestleAtomic provides affordable, fun and fast-paced action that keeps you on the edge of your seat for almost three hours!

At less than £20 a ticket, you struggle to understand how the showrunners at WrestleAtomic manage to put on such an immersive and entertaining show. You’ll see the technical prowess of submission rules, and rest holds, balanced against the wackiness of tables, ladders and chairs. No expense is spared here, and you can feel it immediately.

Presented by WrestleAtomic ring announcer, Che, WrestleAtomic’s July special, ‘Max Power’ was the latest of the promotion’s events to be named after an obscure The Simpsons reference. Hosted inside Content (the venue that also hosts Bongo’s Bingo), the show got underway right on time at 7 o’clock. Four matches took place in the first half of the show, including a 2-on-1 gauntlet match in which fan favourite Ian Skinner teamed up with whinging baddy Joe Blazer. Skinner gave plenty of time to his adoring crowd upon entering the ring, signing autographs for children who had flocked to see him wrestle.

Lewis Johnson, also known as ‘Limb Reaper’, impressed the crowd with his bad guy antics as he laid waste to the heroic Chris Ridgeway. We were surprised to see Johnson, looking significantly more civilised outside of his bone-breaking character, selling his merchandise to fans in the foyer after the show. There really is a wholesome and welcoming feel to WrestleAtomic’s events. People of all ages and genders had gathered to support British Wrestling and pay their respects to the incredible talent who risk their bodies every time they enter the ring. Tickets were available for purchase at the door, though the show was very close to capacity. Merchandise was reasonably priced with stylish t-shirts donning the WrestleAtomic logo starting at £16. Wrestlers walked the halls freely during the interval to greet fans and take photos, spreading the word of how admirable the art of wrestling truly is. 

The roof almost came off for Quintessential, the duo who hold the tag team gold in Atomic, as they defended their belts in a ladder match against the villainous Act Two. We’d like to say they ‘threw the kitchen sink’ at this one, but that seems to be the only household item that wasn’t used to gain an advantage over the other team. Oven trays, thumbtacks, foldaway tables, steel chairs and even a guitar were used in this all-out war, which ended with Quintessential retaining their titles and holding them aloft at the top of the ladders. 

So, if you’re stuck for a night out, date night, or just something more than a trip to the cinema meal in a fancy restaurant, get yourself a ticket to see WrestleAtomic. The effort put into the show is obvious before you even sit down. The team behind the events shows how much bang for your book is possible, even in 2026. If you’re already a wrestling fan, it’ll further strengthen your love for the art form. If you’re not, go into it with an open mind, and you’re sure to come out with a different opinion than when you went in.
