Liverpool construction companies raise £25,000 to tackle child poverty

Businesses from across the construction industry came together in Boxpark, Liverpool on Thursday 18 June.

They raised £25,000 in support of Mr Motivator’s Bed Bank campaign and shining a spotlight on the urgent issue of child bed poverty in the UK.

The event, was led by local business Rise Construction Framework and was launched by fitness legend Mr Motivator. It brought together more than 150 attendees from nearly 80 businesses, alongside local schoolchildren and community partners.

The campaign was created to raise awareness of the fact that there are almost one million children across the UK who do not have a bed to sleep in.

The event saw businesses unite in bright outfits, moving together in a high energy fitness session before children from St Austin’s Primary School joined Rise Construction Framework in presenting a £25,000 cheque to support the campaign.

Mr Motivator (Derrick Evans MBE) said:

“Every child deserves a bed of their own. Without one, their sleep, health, confidence and future can all be affected.

What we’ve seen here today has been incredible. The energy, generosity and support from businesses and the local community has been amazing to see. Thanks to Rise Construction Framework for your support.

Liverpool has shown what can happen when people come together to make a difference. But we can’t stop here. Child bed poverty affects families right across the UK.

I’m asking everyone to get behind this campaign. Sign the petition, make a donation if you can, and help us make sure every child has a safe place to sleep.”

Sara Lawton, Director of Rise Construction Framework, said:

“As a business we have been aware of bed poverty for some time so we really wanted to do something that would make a difference in tackling this issue; it is heartbreaking to think the UK has almost 1,000,000 children with no bed to sleep in at night. It would be amazing if other businesses across the Region would consider Mr Motivators Bed Bank as their nominated charity”.

The event brought together businesses, young people and community partners to raise both awareness and vital funds, demonstrating the power of collective action to drive real change.

Momentum is building, but more support is urgently needed to tackle child bed poverty across the UK. If you would like to support the Mr Motivators Bed Bank End Bed Poverty campaign you can do so by signing the petition or directly donating to the Bed Bank fundraiser here.
