The award-winning Moulin Rouge! The Musical has landed in Liverpool and is here for over a month

The multi-award-winning hit stage show Moulin Rouge! The Musical is coming to Liverpool Empire Theatre this week as part of its first ever world tour.

The ten time Tony Award-winning show is on a long run in Liverpool until 8 August.

Enter a world of splendour, of eye-popping excess, of glitz, grandeur and glory! A world where Bohemians and aristocrats rub elbows and revel in electrifying enchantment. Welcome to Moulin Rouge! The Musical!

Winner of 10 Tony awards including Best Musical, Best Director, and Best Choreography Baz Luhrmann’srevolutionary film comes to life onstage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza. A celebration of truth, beauty, freedom and – above all – love, Moulin Rouge! is more than a musical; it is a state of mind.

Writer and producer Baz Luhrmann says:

“Once I started to make movies, I became obsessed with finding a musical language that could work for now. As someone who had loved musicals from childhood, I wanted to see them live again. So in making Moulin Rouge!, I set out with my collaborators to reinvent an old form.”

As in the film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical celebrates over 160 years of music – from Offenbach to Lady Gaga. The stage musical features over 70 iconic songs, many from the movie, as well as recent hits released since the movie premiered over 20 years ago.
