One of Liverpool’s most prominent nightlife fixtures is preparing for a fresh era following its acquisition by Amy Gwynn, the prominent entrepreneur behind the city’s legendary GBar.

The celebrated OMG venue is scheduled to reopen this summer as Campus, a dynamic new LGBTQ+ friendly nightlife hotspot designed to capture the nostalgic spirit of chaotic house parties, kitchen discos, and unforgettable nights where strangers become fast friends.

Set to debut just in time for Liverpool Pride, Campus is planning a massive opening weekend filled with top-tier entertainment, resident DJs, drag showcases, and exclusive guest star appearances as the community gathers for one of the grandest weekends on Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ calendar.

Following her successful acquisition of GBar, which maintained its status as one of Liverpool’s longest-running and most revered LGBTQ+ hubs, Amy recognised the perfect opportunity to deepen her investment in the local nightlife scene by transforming OMG into a brand-new concept. Instead of copying the established GBar formula, Campus has been engineered to run alongside it, delivering a fresh, interactive environment that stands completely apart from anything currently available in Liverpool.

Driven by the core philosophy “You Belong Here,” Campus is designed to be a fully inclusive space where individual expression is championed, all guests are welcomed, and every evening embodies the energy of an epic house party.

Divided across two distinct levels, the space has undergone a total transformation to bring the Campus theme to life, with the downstairs area (The Kitchen) capturing the high-energy vibe of a classic house party’s ultimate gathering spot. With the volume turned up, guests can enjoy the non-stop dancing to soundtracks of pop anthems, guilty pleasures, and throwbacks.

The Upstairs (The Living Room) delivers a laid-back environment where patrons can enjoy a drink, chat with friends, sing along to legendary tracks, and take in the surrounding energy.

Nods to university life are woven throughout the entire interior and guests are invited to enrol in a setting where attendance is highly encouraged, homework is banned, graduation is permanently deferred, and resident drag queens serve as professors running the lecture.

Even with this bold new identity, the venue will proudly retain the beloved performers who made OMG a favourite over the years. The popular resident queens will remain central to the weekly lineup, working alongside resident DJs, themed nights, and fresh entertainment concepts.

Andy Locker, DJ and Club Promoter for Campus, explained:

“Campus is about bringing people together and reminding everyone why they fell in love with going out in the first place. We’ve created a venue that’s playful, nostalgic and full of personality, where every room tells a story and everyone is made to feel welcome.

“Everyone remembers those nights where the party somehow always ended up in the kitchen, every song was one you knew and complete strangers became your best friends for the evening. That’s the feeling we’ve built Campus around.

“Amy has been at the heart of Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ nightlife for some years now, and Campus is an exciting opportunity to build on that experience with something completely new. Launching in time for Liverpool Pride makes it even more special, and we’re putting together an incredible line-up of entertainment to make the opening weekend one to remember. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors and show them what Campus is all about.”

Campus will make its official debut this summer, utilising a grand Pride launch weekend to spotlight the music, drag talent, DJs, and energy that define Liverpool’s spirited LGBTQ+ community.

Additional updates, including the complete entertainment schedule and grand opening details, will be shared in the coming weeks.
