Here’s how to keep your dog happy on Merseyside….

Treats

Let’s start right at the beginning. All dogs love treats – in moderation of course. When it comes to feeding your pooch the absolute best natural ingredients, indulgent recipes and personalised treats it has to be The Liverpool Barkery. We’re hearing amazing things about the doggo gingerbread!

Calderstones Park cafe offers dog-friendly and delicious ‘Frozzy’ frozen yoghurt which have been a saviour for many tired-out puppers this summer. It’s All About The Dog do an amazing range of homemade cakes and treats for furry friends, while DAB Dogs Deli down at the Cain’s Brewery Village is your one stop shop for natural training treats, natural chews, enrichment toys and behavioural advice!

Walkies

We’re so lucky to have so many amazing parks and miles of coastline to explore with our dogs. Favourite walks suggested by you include Wirral Way, Crosby Beach, Croxteth Park, Hale Lighthouse, Pickering Pasture, Otterspool to the Baltic and Formby and Woolton Woods. Shopping

Did you know, over 50% of Liverpool ONE is dog friendly? Shops such as HMV, Waterstones, All Saints, Levi’s and Office are all happy to see you and your pooches having a browse. Did you know Cheshire Oaks is also 80% dog friendly? Just look out for the paw print stickers on the shop windows and go wild in the aisles with your favourite shopping partner!

Get The Liverpool Look

No city adores dressing its dogs up more than Liverpool. This year alone we’ve seen canines in curly wigs and rollers, red and blue doggo shirts, Alder Hey pjays and pride flags galore. If you’re dog isn’t already sporting your team colours – here’s a few ideas for extending their wardrobe:

Pets Corner, Allerton Road stocks a whole load of fabulous designs when it comes to collars, leads and all your funky pet accessories. Get Together!

There has been a huge rise in dog events taking place across the wider Merseyside region and we can’t get enough of them. Alongside regular weekly meet ups, breed specific walks and all the charity 5k runs (how cute were the Scouse 5k dogs please?!) there’s also a host of annual events that are all about the doge!

Events such as the Mowgli Trust Dog Show at Claremont Farm is a dogs dream day out. With different prize categories, stalls galore, tasty treats and of course all the friendly meet ups, four legged and two – get next years date in your diary now.

Woof Festival, The Dog Barn in St Helens is another annual dog event open to all breeds and their owners. Offering local food and drink vendors, artisan trade stalls, enclosed off-lead play areas, dog swimming, kids play park and more, check out the plans for 2020 here.

Woodside Drive In Cinema hosts dog friendly viewings too, the most recent one was of course, 101 Dalmations! There’s dog and human treats available plus a prize for the best boy and girl! See what’s coming up here. 

Howl-o-ween Petacular, Bombed Out Church is all about dogs in amazing halloween costumes! Too cute! Taking place on Saturday 26th October from 11am until 5pm, its organised and run by Merseyside Dogs Home. Find out more here. 

Daycare

Did you know there’s a number of dedicated day care centres for Merseyside Dogs? Situated just a short walk-ies from the city centre, Tails in the City, Caryl Street is a hugely popular dog creche offering your pooch a natural, stimulating environment to play while you’re at work. Based in Speke, Kate’s Doggy Daycare and Hotel offers a similar day time play plus grooming, and luxury accommodation for your pups while you’re away.

No More Kennels, Warrington is a luxury dog hotel, spa and resort taking doggy day care to a whole new level! Pups have their own bedrooms (with TV’s)!
