Merseyside Police invite public to join operation fighting crime in South Sefton

Merseyside Police are inviting members of the public to join them tomorrow, Wednesday, 21 August for an operation tackling crime in the South Sefton area.

Operation Target officers along with partners from Sefton Council and local resident groups will be carrying out foot patrols, searches and letter drops in response to recent incidents in South Sefton. The public are invited to join us at one of four meeting points at 5pm, where a briefing will take place before the activity begins.

Superintendent Graeme Robson said: “We know there have been a number of concerning violent incidents recently and we want to show the local communities that we are dedicated to tackling serious and organised crime in the South Sefton area.

“Tomorrow we will not only be carrying out disruption work through Operation Target, Merseyside Police’s response to tackling serious and violent crime in the region – but we will also be joining forces with the public to send out a strong message that criminal activity will not be tolerated.

“Anyone is welcome to join us at one of four meeting points at 5pm – they are Derby Park in Bootle, Bowersdale Park in Seaforth, Kirkstone Road North in Litherland and Marian Square in Netherton. A briefing will be carried out before we begin and any amount time that you could spare to join us would be really appreciated.

“We cannot tackle this issue alone and police our way out of it. We need everyone affected by violent crime to stand with us and tell us everything they know, either contacting police directly or speaking to Crimestoppers anonymously.”
