A Food Lovers Guide to May in Liverpool
Another month and another host of foodie festivities to get on board with, including a brand spanking new bar & restaurant and two, that’s right, TWO, foodie festivals.
We can hear your bellys rumbling from here so lets get straight to the main course.
Food/Drink Event of the Month – Pizza & Prosecco Festival
Yep, we had the very same thought when we read those two words together – Pizza and Prosecco. On Saturday 19th May the festival comes to Liverpool Hinterlands in the Baltic Triangle after a sold out UK tour in 2017. Guests will be treated to a Cocktail on arrival as well as a slice of pizza. There will be over 20 types of Prosecco to try but don’t worry if you’re not an expert on the fizzy stuff just yet, because this year tickets will include a handy Prosecco Bible to help you along with your festival experience. Pizza will be served hot and fresh from the wood fired oven with vegans and gluten free patrons also catered for this year. The festival had put an exatr “P” into the mix this year, giving us the “3 Ps”. Pizza – Prosecco – Party! Get your tickets now!
New Venue of the Month – The Florist
The Florist opened its doors on Hardman Street this week to rapturous acclaim. The venue is beautiful, as you would expect, lavishly covered in flower arrangements. The venue specialises in Brunch offering Full, and Vegan, Cooked Breakfasts as well as sweeter treats such as Biscoff and Nutella French Toast…(I’ll just leave that one with you for a second). The regular menu also offers delights that marry the setting beautiful, including an outstanding Sunday Roast. Whether popping in for a fragrant cocktail, brunch or full on evening meal, The Florist is already shooting up the list to become one of the must visit places in the city.
Eatery of the Month – Birdies Bar & BBQ
What’s better than having a drink and BBQ outdoors as the weather brightens up and summer is just around the corner? Having the food cooked for you and not having to do the clearing up afterwards, of course. That is exactly why Birdies Bar & BBQ is our “Meatery of the Month”, all with the added fact that Sound City 2018 is taking place around the Baltic Triangle and at the bar itself. Located right outside Ghetto Golf, Birdies Bar is quaint space offering cocktails and the best BBQ style street food in the area from Apocalypse Cow. Sink your teeth into a steak, brisket or burger whilst enjoying live music every Sunday.
Garden of the Month – Botanical Garden
As the sun starts to rear its head and the temperature creeps up, the beer garden is going to be the place to be and getting a seat at the table will be increasingly hard. That is why this summer we are giving you the heads up on the best beer gardens in the city so that you can make sure you’ve got the prime spot in the sun with a refreshing drink in hand. This month’s pick is the ever popular and equally quirky Botanical Gin Garden in the Baltic Triangle. This area will be booming over the month of May thanks to Sound City and the many more musical extravaganzas on offer, making it hard to think of a better place to start. Treat yourself to the wide array of interestingly innovative gins and gin cocktails on offer, with street food also available on site and blankets as the evening draws in and your gin coat won’t do the job.
Veggie/Vegan Venue of the Month – Liverpool Vegan Festival
Mountford Hall will transform into a Vegan world of wonder on Saturday 5th May with 100 stalls offering innovative plant based treats, inspirational talks, workshops and demos as well as 10 special guest caterers from around globe. Whether you’re hardcore into the diet or just interested in making the switch, the Liverpool Vegan Festival has all the info and tasters that you could need. Tickets start at just £3 with a VIP option available that fast tracks you through the queues and a goody bag full of samples, offers and vegan products.
