Wongs Jewellers has long been associated with diamonds. A place to celebrate the biggest and most treasured occasions in life, with a special jewellery purchase. Having played an integral part in thousands of love stories throughout its 40 year history, Wongs Jewellers also provides a service which helps preserve our family histories.
You’ll have heard the saying ‘Worth Its Weight in Gold’ and nowhere is it more fitting than when describing family heirlooms – such as jewellery that is passed down from generation to generation. Rings, earrings, bracelets, brooches, cufflinks, necklaces, chains and pendants hold such sentimental value – but due to ever changing trends, they may never be worn.
If you have broken or outdated jewellery such as chains and bracelets that are no longer being worn, Wongs Jewellers can use these pieces for jewellery redesign. Expert Goldsmiths will melt down precious metals, which can be more cost-effective than buying new. These can be combined with old or new diamonds and gemstones to create a special piece of bespoke jewellery.
Wongs Jewellers offers customers the opportunity to re-fashion their jewellery into something timeless which can be worn everyday – while retaining the sentimental value and memories of their loved one. The friendly, knowledgeable staff will work closely with you to design a piece that fits with your own style.
Wongs Jewellers Managing Director, Peter Wong said: “Turning an heirloom from the past into an heirloom for the future is what we do best. It really is a joy to see a customers face light up when we reveal a redesigned piece that still holds the sentiment of a loved one, especially if they are no longer with us.
“It’s a real honour to be involved in this process and we take it very seriously. Our customers really value the fact this work can be carried out in out on site workshop by our talented goldsmiths, meaning your items never leave the premises and our in safe hands with us.’’
Wongs’ own Business Manager, Cynthia Cartwright, has first hand experience of the service, she said: “After losing my father several years back, I always knew I wanted to use some of his old jewellery to make my wedding rings.
“Mr Wong melted the old pieces down and made a beautiful wedding band for both my husband and I and he also set some diamonds into mine. I really cherish my wedding band now and especially on my big day it felt really magical to know that a little part of my father was with us!”
