All you need to know about this weekend’s Musicians Against Homelessness gigs

If you thought that festival season was over, then think again.

Local charity and innovators, Musicians Against Homelessness, start our September with a weekend of live music to keep us music lovers going, whilst doing the same for those less fortunate than ourselves on our own streets. Ian McHale and his team have been doing amazing things around Merseyside raising money, and awareness, in order to help fight homelessness in our city.

The Cause

The cause is undeniably as worthy as it is necessary, especially as many of those whom the charity aim to help have very little means of starting to make a difference in their lives without help from the outside. Homelessness in the UK is something that is often turned a blind eye to, or snubbed as if it is “their own fault”. This type of attitude is helping no one and that is why organisations like M.A.H should be cherished and supported. Especially when they are putting on an event for YOUR enjoyment. What’s better than having a great time whilst helping those less fortunate?

The Saturday

Xam Volo, Sugarmen, Red Rum Club and Xander and The Peace Pirates are our top picks for the Saturday with a line-up that also includes The Boston Shakers and Timo Tierney, as well as acoustic sets from the likes of The Sundowners and The Wicked Whisper. The line-up doesn’t stop their, with many other artists performing on the day, topped off by a very special DJ set by favourites of ours, She Drew The Gun

The Sunday

Sunday’s festivities bring some of the cities biggest hitters such as Tommy Scott from Space, who will be accompanied by Paul Hemmings (The La’s) & Satin Beige on cello. Fresh from their summer residency at The Magnet, The Vryll Society will also take to the stage that they will be sharing Nigel Clark (Dodgy), Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Nasher (Frankie Goes to Hollywood). Again, the fun doesn’t stop there as an array of other bands and artist create the full line-up.

The Future

There are various sequels planned for the rest of year, and if the September edition goes especially well, who knows how far the events will have come by the end of the year. The events planned for the remainder of the year are exciting us here at The Guide Liverpool as it means that there are more opportunities to aid people on our own streets as well provide another platform on which we can showcase just how brilliant, and diverse, we are at breeding new music.

The Info

The Musicians Against Homelessness weekender takes place at Hangar34 this Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September with doors opening at 2pm and 1pm respectively.  It’s priced at £20 for a weekend ticket or £10 for a day ticket with all proceeds going to help the homeless. Get your tickets here, now! https://www.wegottickets.com/f/11070

As the live music scene recovers from festival season and settles back into normality, MAH are here to give us one last hurrah, then another…then another. So, if you love live music, then make sure that you get down to Hangar34 to support this amazing cause.
