Big comedy names head to Bootle’s Salt and Tar Fringe Festival this Spring
3 hours ago
Bootle is bringing the laughs this Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, as the Salt and Tar Fringe Festival makes its debut from 23 – 26 May 2025.
Hosted at Salt and Tar, Bootle’s outdoor events venue, the festival promises a spectacular mix of comedy, music, and arts.
This exciting new festival builds on the success of its predecessor, the Comedy Weekender, which drew hundreds of visitors to Bootle over the past two years.
Now expanded into a full-fledged Fringe Festival, the event is set to welcome some of the brightest stars in comedy for two unforgettable nights of laughter, expertly curated by Big Comedy UK, the team behind the acclaimed Southport Comedy Festival.
Big Comedy has lined up two unforgettable comedy nights taking place on the Friday and Sunday night of the festival featuring comedy giants: Clinton Baptiste, the hilarious clairvoyant and psychic from Peter Kay’s iconic Phoenix Nights and comedy legend Mick Miller often referred as ‘the bald man with the long hair’ and one of the UK’s most cherished entertainers, still at the top of his game after over 40 years.
They will be joined by TV faces Maisie Adam and Ignacio Lopez, known for appearances on shows such as Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Have I Got News for You, and QI; Dan Nightingale, host of the smash-hit podcast Have a Word; and Nina Gilligan, a fast-rising star and multi-award-winning comedian.
The comedy nights hosted by Brendan Riley will take place in a luxury, fully-seated marquee, offering an intimate and unique setting to see these stars up close and personal.
Tickets for these first two events are on sale now at just £17plus booking fee.
Salt and Tar is a multi-use, outdoor events venue, located in Bootle directly behind the Strand Shopping Centre.
Salt and Tar is Sefton’s fast growing entertainment hub for large-scale and community events. Their events program offers a wide range of entertainment from comedy to music to street food events.
