Christmas has arrived at the Municipal Hotel & Spa

If making memories is top of your Christmas list this year, you can rely on the Municipal Hotel & Spa to help by adding its very own, and very special, kind of magic.

The iconic venue in Dale Street’s got a glittering selection of events and offerings throughout the festive season – as well as plans to help you start the New Year with a bang.

So whether you want to celebrate with something formal and fabulous, or a little more relaxed (but just as fantastic) the Municipal has got you covered.

You can enjoy a traditional Christmas meal with your colleagues or your family in the Seaforth Restaurant at MGallery’s luxurious venue.

There’s a two or three course festive menu from £39, with starters including celeriac and truffle velouté, and confit chicken and duck terrine; and sumptuous mains like roast turkey roulade with confit potato, honey glazed root vegetables, apricot and thyme stuffing, pigs in blankets, sprouts, and turkey jus, or a delicious pan fried seabass served with butternut squash and chorizo risotto, and aged parmesan.

And if you can find any room for a dessert after that, the joys of festive Christmas pudding, treacle tart, or classic rice pudding will definitely tempt you.

If it’s a girlie get together you’re after, then look no further than the beautiful Botanic Tearoom in the listed former council building.

There you can make the most of the spirits of the season with a festive afternoon tea, complete with mulled wine or Municipal champagne.

Offered from noon to 5pm daily, you can feast on a selection of finger sandwiches – with a nod to Christmas with turkey and stuffing among them of course! – and scrumptious sausage rolls. And you’ll more than satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade fresh scones, Christmas pudding choux buns, mini chocolate orange cheesecake, mince pie frangipane with brandy butter frosting, and more, complemented by a cup of loose leaf tea or freshly brewed coffee.

The Palm Court Library, meanwhile, offers a stunning and intimate location for any Christmas canape and drinks reception … and if you’re party is smaller than others you can make merry in one of the Palm Court Booths.

And if you think that’s all beginning to look a lot like Christmas, just wait until the big day itself.

With what may be the best present you could wish for this year, the Municipal is hosting the most amazing six-course Christmas dinner with Municipal champagne on arrival and a free gift for every child in the gloriously decorated Seaforth restaurant.

Locally sourced game, pan-fried halibut and beef wellington are among the delicious menu delights for that one – along with plenty of Christmas Cheer and the relief that someone else is doing the washing up!

Finally, you can join The Municipal on New Year’s Eve to bid farewell to the old year and welcome in 2025 in style with a luxurious à la carte dinner in the Seaforth restaurant, live entertainment, and a midnight toast.
