On The Waterfront

There’s a massive week and weekend of live music in Liverpool with On The Waterfront returning to the outdoor Pier Head stage. On Thursday it’s home favourites The Wombats, Friday sees Irish legends Wolfe Tones, on Saturday Cream Classical Ibiza is back and closing out the festival will be the incredible Sting 3.0 world tour on Sunday.

What could be better when the sun’s out than being on the river? How about being on the river with a load of mates partying to 90s anthems? Get on board The Old Skool 90s Mersey Ferry Evening Cruise this Friday and sail along the Mersey to a soundtrack of huge tunes from In Demand Radio DJ John B.

Jamie Webster plays Haydock Park
This year’s shaping up to be a great one for Scouse hero Jamie Webster with his third studio album, 10 For The People, new single Across the River and now headlining a big outdoor show at Haydock Park racecourse on Saturday. Evening racing is from 6pm-8.45pm then Jamie’s due on stage at 9.15pm.
The new Almost Famous roof garden, The Wonder Terrace, is open

Another one that’s absolutely made for nice weather … burger supremos Almost Famous have launched a new roof garden, The Wonder Terrace, on top of the Parr Street venue. It means you can now tuck into their amazing burgers along with cocktails and shakes, and top up on your vit D while you’re at it.

Speaking of outdoor bevs, The Bridewell’s been a long-time go-to when it comes to little sun trap spots to enjoy them. Head to the Costa del Campbell Square, off the bottom of Duke Street, and take advantage of plenty of outdoor seating for a cold beer in one of the city’s friendliest most historic pubs.
Tuck into Cargo Seafood Restaurant, Princes Dock

With a waterfront location at Princes Parade, Cargo Seafood Restaurant has a seafood menu that’ll make you feel like you’re on your best-ever Greek Island holiday. Fresh seafood is obviously the main event, with dishes like lobster linguine and whole grilled seabass, and they also do a very decent steak.

Holly is a music icon in Liverpool, as popular now as his Frankie days, so his live gigs in the city are always something special. The Everyman’s known for premiering brilliant original work and this play by Wirral writer Billie Collins is no exception. Inspired by real-life headlines, it follows what happens to three different people when wild animals make an unexpected appearance in their lives. From this Thursday until Saturday June 21.
Get a selfie with a cruise ship – lots of them in this week!

It’s always great to get a look at the cruise ships when they come into Liverpool and it doesn’t matter how many times you get to see them, they’re always impressive. Grab a selfie with one this week including Monday when P&O Cruises Britannia arrives, and Tuesday with the Seven Seas Grandeur.

They’ve been open for more than 40 years, but the Festival Gardens are looking very good for their age, largely thanks to the hard work of volunteers who’ve been busy planting, weeding, and painting features to get them back to being one of the best green spaces in the city – and it’s free to visit!
