EDITOR’S PICKS: What’s on this weekend in Liverpool?

Summer might have done a runner but the big events and festivals continue to shine in Liverpool, and this weekend there are lots to choose from. As well as that, we welcome thousands of new students to the city as Fresher’s Week gets underway.

For the foodies…

Liverpool Food & Drink Festival, Sefton Park

It’s back with more food, drink and good vibes than ever before. The Liverpool Food & Drink Festival not only celebrates the best of Liverpool’s food scene but it also brings some huge international brands to the city too. This year you can watch chefs like Gary Usher and Raymond Blanc cooking up a storm, and our Kate will be hosting a special live Q&A with Chef Blanc on Sunday.

For the little pirates…

Pirate on the Dock, Royal Albert Dock

It’s the weekend that all kids (and big kids) in Liverpool love. Whether you’re a mermaid or a pirate there’s something for you at the Royal Albert Dock. I always think Pirate on the Dock has that touch of “Disney” magic to it and the shows, live battles and parades are really spectacular. The fun starts each day at 11am and finishes at 6, with the parade each day at 12.30pm.

For a swashbuckling brunch…

Gusto, Royal Albert Dock

As if all of that pirate fun wasn’t enough, Gusto are inviting you to have brunch with the pirates this weekend. They’ll have all of their usual delicious breakfast items on the menu, along with kids colouring comps, fancy dress and, of course, photo opportunities with the pirates themselves.

Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show, Camp and Furnace

From Red Dwarf to Corrie, Robot Wars to Radio, there’s not a lot Liverpool’s Craig Charles hasn’t done. If you have never seen him on the decks then this Saturday is your chance. He will be funking up the Camp and Furnace dance floor with his mix of soulful groovy vibes and beats.

The Baltic Social Take That Night

Saved By The Brunch, The Alchemist

Lock & Key turned one earlier this week and it already feels like the Duke Street venue has been here forever.
