Emily’s in Formby unveils Valentine’s Day transformation
Emily's in Formby

One of the most famous window displays in Merseyside has had a special Valentine’s makeover.

Emily’s in Formby has become well known for its stunning exteriors and has become a favourite selfie spot for the perfect Instagram picture.

Now the restaurant and bar has been transformed for the February celebration of all things love and romance.

The outdoor space of the gorgeous converted bank underwent a late-night overhaul this week after looking a little bare following the removal of its opulent Christmas decorations last month.

And it certainly doe doesn’t disappoint. The new installation is a mass of roses and red ribbons, complete with a piano and seat – perfect not only for some romantic music but also the ideal prop for your romantic selfies.

After the new decorations were revealed this week, diners and locals in Formby took to social media to express their approval of the transformation.

There were several comments of: “Stunning” and “Oh wow”.

On Facebook one fan wrote: “I saw this yesterday and it looks beautiful.” While another said: “Absolutely gorgeous, as always.”

Emily’s has become famous for its impressive installations at the front of the building in Brows Lane – as well as its indoor decorations – since it opened in the Sefton town just over two years ago.

From floral arrangements for summer, Christmas installations to get everyone in the festive mood and Halloween specials complete with pumpkin and bales of hay, the changes have become a favourite part of any new season.

But it’s not all about the decorations, the Formby hangout has also cemented a stellar reputation for good food and drinks over the past two years, as well as great service.

The new installation is all part of the restaurant’s Valentine’s Day celebrations, which include a special menu for the big night.

Diners on 14 February will be able to enjoy a delicious three-course dining experience as well as a glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne on arrival.

The menu costs £50 per person and choices include starters like chicken satay, katsu tofu and deep fired burrata. For the main course you can choose from beef cheek, lamb rump, gnocchi tomato, cod loin supreme and more.

And if you still have any room left for a dessert there is sticky toffee sundae, chocolate fondant, lemon meringue cheesecake or a cheese board to choose from.

Emily’s is a short walk from Formby train station so easy to reach by Merseyrail and as well as its gorgeous Valentine’s menu it serves great brunches – perfect if you have been for a walk on the famous Formby beach sands.

The evening menu has just had a re-jig for 2025, with mains including fish and chips, Wagyu burger, pork belly and corn fed chicken supreme. Or you could go for a ribeye, fillet or rump steak from the grill.

The popular Sunday lunch menu includes choices like sirloin of beef and Cumbrian lamb as well as roast cauliflower for vegetarians. There is also a regular children’s menu.

The cocktail choices don’t disappoint either, with favourites like the Breakfast Margarita, Bloody Mary and Chocolate Orange Old Fashioned.

Smoothies are a popular choice with brunch and there is also an impressive range of wine and beers. You can also call in for a coffee or hot chocolate.

You will find Emily’s at 25 Brows Lane in Formby. Pop into the family run Tin Shed bar across the road for a pre or post dinner drink, or make your way to the nearby Auld Dubliner for a bit of music at the weekends.

There are also bars like Woodwards and Lux 37 just down the road, or check out the socials for No.6 Bar in School Lane to see what live music is on offer for Friday nights.
