Eurovision Daily Saturday 6th May: Seven things going on today in Liverpool

The excitement for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool is palpable as the Eurovision Village opened last night at the Pier Head, and is set to host nine days of non-stop entertainment.

Once again there’s loads of amazing events taking place throughout the city, and today, the Eurovision Village welcomes Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters, who will perform live on the Pier Head stage. It’s also FREE – how boss is that!

The Village is will showcase a wide range of performances and events right up until the final on May 13. The Royalty Ball by House of Suarez are performing today – their stunning choreography and fierce attitude will surely captivate audiences and add to the overall celebratory atmosphere of the event.

Walker Art Gallery are welcoming all visitors to join them for a fun packed event, where they’ll be celebrating all things creative.

During the day you can expect a variety of both free and paid activities for different ages including art workshops led by Ukrainian artists, face painting, family discos, dressing up and more.

Eurovision Village – A Royally Good Party

Euro Village Pier Head Eurovision - The Guide Liverpool - Jake Shears

The Village opened at 10.00am to show the BBC’s live coverage of the King’s Coronation, before five of the acts competing in Eurovision 2023 get their chance to perform and give the village a taste of what’s to come in the following few days. 

Then, they will welcome a king of the musical world as Jake Shears takes to the stage for what is set to be an incredible show including some of the Scissor Sisters biggest hits!

And then to top it off, the evening ends with the The Royalty Ball, a joyous extravaganza of costume, choreographed dance and the best of the North West’s vogue scene, will spring into action via a large runway at the heart of the Village. Hosted by Liverpool’s House of Suarez, the event will be an unmissable invitation for all audiences. 

The main stage programme will be hosted by BBC’s Ngunan Adamu.

The Artist Experience – Eurovision Edition

Canvella is bringing an immersive art experience / party to the EuroLove program @ The Love Lane Brewery. A life drawing event with a fun twist! It’s a unique opportunity to create art and be entertained by Liverpool’s most fabulous live cabaret performers.

All art materials provided – easels, brushes, pencils, paints and ponchos. No experience required!

You can take home your masterpiece, play fun games and win some cheeky prizes too! Food and drink will be available throughout. And as always, it will finish with a good old dance! Get ready it’s The Artist Experience – Eurovision Edition!

#BeerTogether Walking Brewery Tour in Celebration of Eurovision

The #BeerTogether project unites the brewing communities of Liverpool and Ukraine in celebration of the Song Contest.

Eight independent craft breweries from Liverpool have joined forces with eight breweries from Ukraine to make eight exclusive small-batch collaboration beers.

MEDIA – Eurovision Fun Fest

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) is delighted to welcome Eurovision media to an early evening drinks reception and Eurovision Song Contest themed performance in the iconic Paul McCartney Auditorium on Saturday 6th May. 

The performance will be a joyous and fun filled celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest as some of the best-loved songs and classic gems are refreshed by a new generation of performers. Singers from across Europe will be joined by a Eurovision-styled orchestra, a choir, dancers and special guests Sonia and Jemini for this romp through Eurovision history.

Bijou’s Eurovision Party

Hidden Gem Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards

The Bijou continues its celebrations into the evening with a continental Eurovision party with a difference!

Beginning at 7.00pm with an interactive screening of cult classic “Mamma Mia”, the party will pause the movie halfway through to present Gambolling Arena’s live, interactive show, with the Mamma Mia girls offering nibbles, drinks, and singing all of your favourite tunes for a full show, before the singalong film continues!

LUMSOVISION: A Celebration of Euro-Pop Through the Decades

Join the Liverpool University Music Society (LUMS) in a night celebration of all things Eurovision and Euro-pop, as well as a further array of pieces from their varied ensembles.

The concert will feature a selection of arrangements of classic Eurovision and Euro-pop pieces from across the decades to celebrate Liverpool hosting Eurovision 2023 on behalf of Ukraine.

LUMS are excited to welcome you to their end-of-year concert where they will be showcasing the student musicians and their commitment to this brilliant society.
