LFC Foundation Gala Ball raises £100k to tackle inequality

Celebrating community, the LFC Foundation’s annual Gala Ball raised more than £100,000 to help combat social injustice across the Liverpool City Region and beyond. 

The sold-out, black-tie event took place at the stunning Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on May 21, bringing together club Legends, partners, and supporters for one of the Foundation’s flagship nights.

Supported by headline sponsors Carpenters Group and Legacie, every pound raised during the evening will go directly toward funding the LFC Foundation’s vital health, learning, and employability programmes. Proceeds will also benefit Forever Reds, the club’s official former players’ association, which ensures past heroes receive ongoing support.

Meanwhile, a silent auction for a specially commissioned painting of Diogo Jota successfully generated an extra £3,000, with all the proceeds earmarked specifically to expand the grassroots football initiative established in the forward’s name.

Established in tribute to Diogo and his brother André Silva following their tragic passing last July, the project will help young people play, learn, and grow through football, providing opportunities that honour his legacy and the values he lived by both on and off the pitch.

Guests were treated to an incredible lineup of live performances from Liverpool soul icons The Real Thing, alongside Jamie Webster and Brad Kella, while club legend Steven Gerrard made an exclusive appearance on stage.

“It was incredible to see so much support for the Foundation at this year’s Gala Ball. The generosity, warmth and genuine care that filled the Anglican Cathedral was extraordinary – from our partners and sponsors to every guest who gave their time to be there. 

“The funds raised will make a real, tangible difference to the communities we serve. We are deeply grateful – and we remain absolutely committed to pushing further, doing more and growing our impact for the people who need it most.”

During the 2024–25 season, the LFC Foundation supported over 145,000 individuals, with one-fifth of those participants living in the UK’s most deprived communities—highlighting the massive scale and impact of its regional work.

Beyond the UK, more than 19,000 individuals benefited from the LFC Foundation’s global initiatives throughout Tanzania, Ethiopia, the United States, the Republic of Ireland, and Japan.
