Richard Maides, Ghostwriter Director, said:
“We are excited to work with Chris and his team and look forward to further evolving this historic venue which has, over the past few years, established itself as a regular on the live touring circuit for artists performing in Liverpool.
Having recently hosted performances from Robert Plant, Nick Cave and Bombay Bicycle Club, we hope to welcome many more to this Frank Matcham designed music hall. Liverpool has a special place in our heart as the Ghostwriter team have, between them, operated most of the live music venues in the city at various point in their careers.”
Owner of Silver Leisure, Chris Zorba, said of the arrangement:
“I have known the Ghostwriter team for many years and in recent discussions they have demonstrated to me their knowledge in supporting the business and in particular the management of our live music delivery. The Olympia has been in my family for over 30 years and I believe this partnership will see the business flourish long into the future.”
Eventim Olympia Liverpool, built in 1905 & grade II* listed, is a building of unique architectural & historical importance. It was designed as a purpose-built indoor circus and variety theatre by architect Frank Matcham and is one of only two independently operated Matcham venues.
In 1990, the current owners purchased the building and brought it back to life after several years of closure, and it has been in the family ever since. It now holds a wide range of events including live music, sports and comedy, as well as providing the backdrop to some of your favourite TV shows, appearing in productions such as Peaky Blinders (BBC) and Tin Star (Sky Atlantic).
