Jet2 takes off from Liverpool John Lennon Airport: Everything you need to know

The atmosphere was incredible at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) this morning, March 28, as the first Jet2’s passengers checked in.

Jet2 passengers were greeted with a celebration, with live music from a Beatles tribute band, free breakfast, and jet2 branded cupcakes. The airline also surprised passengers with loads of prizes including; free flights, free holidays, and more.

Both of Jet2’s maiden flights from LJLA were full, with the first being an 8.00am flight to Tenerife, with the second flight heading to Lanzarote at 10.00am. This now marks the start of 52 weekly Jet2 flights to over 20 destinations from LJLA.

Who is Jet2?

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is the UK’s largest tour operator and its third largest airline. 

Liverpool John Lennon Airport will be the 11th UK airport it will be operating from.

When will Jet2 start services at JLA?

NOW – their first flight departed to Tenerife at 8am, with the second flight heading to Lanzarote at 10am.

How many flights will it be operating?

In the first summer (2024) it will operate up to 54 weekly flights, including 12 to both the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands every week.

How many Jet2 planes will there be?

To support the expanded operations from LJLA, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will introduce an extra aircraft for Summer 2025, bringing the total to five based aircraft at the airport. This increased fleet size reflects the company’s commitment to providing customers with a seamless travel experience and ample options for their holiday plans.

Where will Jet2 fly to from LJLA?

Fasten your seat belts because a fleet of four based aircraft from Jet2 will fly to: Mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Bulgaria, Madeira, and Cyprus.

It will include seven exclusive summer routes to Gran Canaria, Menorca, Rhodes, Zante, Madeira, Paphos, and Bourgas (Bulgaria).

The exact destinations are:

Mainland Spain 

  • Alicante – up to four weekly services (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday) 
  • Malaga – up to three weekly services (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) 
  • Reus – up to two weekly services (Wednesday and Sunday) 

Canary Islands – highest frequency of services from Liverpool John Lennon Airport 

  • Fuerteventura – up to two weekly services (Wednesday and Saturday) 
  • Gran Canaria – exclusive route with up to two weekly services (Tuesday and Saturday)
  • Lanzarote – up to three weekly services (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday)
  • Tenerife – up to five weekly services (Tuesday, Thursday Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

Malta

  • Weekly services running on Tuesdays

Balearic Islands 

  • Ibiza – up to three weekly services (Monday, Friday, and Saturday)
  • Majorca – up to seven weekly services (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
  • Menorca – exclusive route – up to two weekly services (Wednesday and Sunday)

Portugal

  • Faro – up to four weekly services (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday)
  • Madeira – exclusive route – weekly Monday services

Greece 

  • Corfu – up to two weekly services (Monday and Friday)
  • Crete (Heraklion) – up to two weekly services (Tuesday and Friday)
  • Kos – weekly Friday services
  • Rhodes – up to two weekly services (Monday and Thursday) – another exclusive route
  • Zante – weekly Wednesday services – exclusive route

Cyprus 

  • Paphos – weekly Wednesday services – exclusive route

Turkey – highest frequency of services from Liverpool John Lennon Airport 

  • Antalya – up to four weekly services (Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday)
  • Dalaman – up to four weekly services (Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday)
  • Bodrum – up to two weekly services (Wednesday and Sunday)

Bulgaria – exclusive from Liverpool Airport 

  • Bourgas – up to two weekly services (Monday and Thursday) – exclusive route

Will Jet2.com and Jet2holidays be offering services in Winter too?

Jet2 has launched their first ever Christmas Markets programme from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, meaning holidaymakers in Merseyside can now book festive flights and trips to two Winter wonderlands.

Brand-new festive flights and breaks to Krakow and Prague will be operating between 29 November to 16 December 2024, with twice-weekly services (Monday and Friday) available during this period.
