Advertorial
Knowsley Hall is the most stunning stately home in our region, and thanks to a diary of events in 2025 members of the public can have exclusive access to this incredible private estate.
Knowsley Hall, the home of the Earl and Countess of Derby is such an impressively grand location, dating back more than 600 years, which has welcomed royalty, lords and ladies, and many film and TV productions.
In 2025 it’s opening its doors on selected dates to host carefully created events which will allow guests to experience that same level of luxury and service.
It’s a rare opportunity to drive through the gates, have afternoon tea or dinner with entertainment in the elegant State Dining room, browse the Hall and walk around the private gardens.
And, in addition to being a treat to really look forward to, they’d all make a fabulous gift for someone special.
The full calendar is still to be announced, but if you want to get a VIP date in your diary for 2025, here are three which can be booked now …
Signature Afternoon Tea
Like all of Knowsley Hall’s events, its Signature Afternoon Tea has limited availability so you have to be quick because they sell out fast! Guests will be served an indulgent afternoon tea inspired by Edward Lear’s famous poem The Owl and The Pussy Cat. You’ll start with a tincture cocktail before a feast of savouries, freshly baked sweet and savoury scones and gorgeous pastries and cakes. There’s also a choice of 12 premium teas which the team will happily keep refilling – all while a string quartet plays in the beautiful surroundings of the State Dining Room. When afternoon tea is over, the experience doesn’t end there because you can wander around the beautiful gardens inspired by Capability Brown.
Belle Voci Opera Dinner
Finalists of ITV’s The Voice and mentored by Jennifer Hudson, Chester-based duo Belle Voci have reached No. 1 in the Classical iTunes chart and released two albums. Their live performances are the perfect introduction to opera, combining musical theatre with film soundtracks and instantly recognisable opera classics. For this memorable evening on February 22, Emily and Sophie will perform during a four-course dinner in the State Dining Room. The menu uses Knowsley produce and the Hall’s in-house mixologist and sommelier create cocktails and wine pairings. To make the experience even more special, there’s also a limited opportunity to stay overnight and have bed and breakfast for two.
Murder Mystery Evening – Murder Beyond the Manor
If you’ve ever pictured yourself in an Agatha Christie film then this evening on March 22 is for you because murder mystery settings don’t come any more glamorous. After a sparkling welcome drink to get the little grey cells working, you can enjoy a four-course dinner in the lavishly dressed State Dining Room surrounded by family portraits of past generations. Then it’s time for the mystery to unfold courtesy of Murder 57 as guests ask questions – even fellow diners sharing your table are under suspicion! – and deduce whodunnit. Once the sleuthing is completed, a DJ takes over and you can spend the rest of the night on the dancefloor. A limited number of rooms will also be available to book for bed and breakfast.
