FACT’s Cinema in The City is back next month and heading to Lush Liverpool

Cinema in The City, presented by FACT, brings the best independent cinema to hidden locations across Liverpool and showcases emerging talent from local filmmakers with food and drink from Liverpool’s own Vietnom.

Set in the heart of the city centre, at LUSH Liverpool Spa, Cinema in The City is back this February, with another weekend of contemporary feature films.

Cinemagoers will enjoy the unique opportunity to experience shorts from emerging filmmakers plus food and drink from Vietnom.

In The Humans, three generations of Erik Blake’s Pennsylvania family celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter’s apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls outside and eerie things start to go bump in the night, the group’s deepest fears are laid bare.

The piercingly funny and haunting debut film from writer-director Stephen Karam, adapted from his Tony Award-winning play, the Humans is A24’s latest offering and explores the hidden dread of a family and the love that binds them together.

Playlist, a French film by artist and comic book author Nine Antico sees Sophie, a graphic artist trying to make ends meet in Paris. She just missed out on art school, so has decided to try to create her own career. Playlist is a witty examination of starting out in the world, defining who you are and, most importantly, what you want to be.

The SXSW Film Festival award winning Norwegian Ninjababy is the final film of the weekend and is based on the graphic novel Fallteknikk. An avid beer drinker and regular party animal, Rakel is less interested in a relationship than the odd enjoyable pickup.

Weeks after a fun night, Rakel’s friends notice her appetite has increased. As have the size of her breasts. It soon becomes clear that the precautions she and Mos took might not have been enough.

Film fans will enjoy fresh, colourful and authentic flavours at Cinema In The City with Vietnom bringing a little bit of Vietnam to the weekend. Their very own kitchen and bar is situated a stone’s throw away from ChinaTown and they offer a lunch / evening service and happily cater for vegans, vegetarian, pescatarian and meat eaters.

Supporting film and local talent is at the heart of FACT and Cinema in The City provides local filmmakers of the future with the exciting opportunity to screen their own short films to an audience of keen cinemagoers prior to each and every screening.

This weekend sees a selection of shorts from the next generation of filmmakers with The Whole Truth, And Nothing But The Truth, directed by Caroline Smith and Divination Dave, directed by Georgia Madden appearing on the big screen before the feature films.

Cinema in the City at LUSH Liverpool Spa runs from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 February. Keep an eye out later in the year for further dates and announcements on new locations, exciting films and local food and drink traders.
