We love The Quarter and its lovely cosmopolitan pavement area, and even the kids will love to eat here and watch the world go by with you. It’s got a really good kids’ menu which includes a drink, breadsticks, a main (pizzas like a margherita and pepperoni, and penne pasta dishes including carbonara and bolognese) and ice cream for just £8, so that’s a great deal … and it’s really good food.

The summer fun starts here, says Gordon Ramsay – and no-one’s going to argue with him, and no-one’s going to want to. It’s available for children up to the age of 8 and they can choose from dishes including meatball pasta with tomato sauce, bangers and mash, or macaroni and cheese. Lunya, Liverpool ONE, and Lunyalita at Royal Albert Dock
This Catalonian family-run restaurant and bar is a real favourite, not least because you’re assured of the best Catalan and Spanish food, along with a warm Mediterranean welcome. Its menu’s filled with deli platters, meats and Artisan cheeses and meat, fish and vegetable tapas and – and now here’s a great deal! – its children’s menu has gone down from last year and it’s now £7.25 (under 12s only). There’s all the usual chicken strips and meatballs, but there’s also fabulous tapas with pan fried chorizo, squid, and patatas bravas to coax kids into being more adventurous.
