West Cheshire Museums have an action-packed activity programme organised for children during the school Summer holidays.

If you’re looking for family fun this Summer then you should visit West Cheshire Museums, where you can explore fascinating exhibitions, interactive displays, and special events that bring history to life for all ages.

From the last week of July and throughout August, children can get in the mood for Summer by taking part in a wide range of fun-based activities at both Chester and Northwich museums.

At Chester’s Grosvenor Museum free holiday activities include, linked to a major exhibition about Regency artist George Cuitt, making Gorgeous Georgian Pockets, and, inspired by the classic film, The Wizard of Oz, making decorations for the museum’s very own Wonderful Wizard Tree.

These free drop-in activities are taking place at the museum on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

In Northwich both the Lion Salt Works and Weaver Hall museums will be hosting a variety of nature, art, craft, science, and technology-based activities.

Held on Wednesdays at Weaver Hall and on Fridays at the Lion Salt Works at 11am, 12 noon and 1pm, the sessions presented under the banner, Northwich Explorers, cater for a wide range of interests.

Places on all Northwich Explorers sessions cost ÂŁ5 and to avoid disappointment on the day, must be booked in advance. To book places please ring Weaver Hall Museum on 01606 271646 and the Lion Salt Works on 01606 275066.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for Fairer Futures, Councillor Lisa Denson, said:

“This year’s summer holiday activities programme is amazing. Our hands-on events will inspire the whole family and really bring our museum collections and exhibitions to life. We have everything covered with nature, art, craft, science, and technology-based activities available.

“It’s a wonderful to be able to introduce children to history and heritage in such a fun way. Find out more at the Cheshire West Museums website.”
