Plans with your burger-half this Valentine’s?
The season of love is well underway, with the UK spending on average 1.4 billion pounds on Valentine’s cards alone each year, it seems someone missed the memo that the way to the heart is through the stomach! No one knows this better than burger brand Fat Hippo, who have delved into some favourite Friday night flavours to create a saucy sub special, guaranteed to spice things up this season.
Mixing the humble chip with onions, chillies and Asian spices, salt and pepper chips are well established as a firm fan favourite across the UK. The success of the spicy side has made-way for the cult viral dish, with salt and pepper becoming the star of the takeaway scene, however not many know the dish actually originated in Liverpool.
Emerging from Merseyside chippies in the mid 1990’s, the Souse-Chinese hybrid flavour has created a permanent pitch on the food scene. Inspiring many a munch box, ribs, chips, and ultimately the increasingly popular salt and pepper chicken, which Fat Hippo have given the good kind of gluttony twist to this February.
Promising 6 inches of satisfaction… The Salt 2My Pepa includes buttermilk chicken (or plant-based chkn for those vegan lovers) seasoned with salt and pepper chilli, pink onions, bang bang cucumber, lettuce and Yum Yum sauce, served in a toasted demi brioche sub. As with all Fat Hippo burgers, comes with a free side of fries, however these have been upgraded with salt and pepper chilli, and can also be purchased separately.
Why not go all out and start your meal with just the tip…ple of Fat Hippo’s brand new Cherry Floss cocktail. An indulgent assault on the senses in the form of marshmallow vodka, Maraschino cherries, cream soda, amaretto, vanilla ice cream all topped with sweet sweet candy floss, also available as vegan. Guaranteed to romance those die hard sweet tooths.
Stats from Finder show that couples who live together prioritise getting a takeaway (27%) most on Valentine’s, cooking a special meal (26%), closely followed by bingeing a TV box set or movie together (21%). Put down the pans and stop the scrolling, Fat Hippo has covered all bases as their February fix is also available via Deliveroo or Click+Collect as well as in Fat Hippo restaurants, 1st-28th February.
