Salt House Tapas believe passionately that the food they serve and the way they serve it should leave each and every guest with a reason to return. Spoiler alert… It does! The restaurant on Hanover Street has a beautiful interior with a mezzanine and a little outdoor terrace if you’re in the mood for a little al fresco dining.
They do a fantastic lunch menu where you get 3 plates for £15.95 – bargain – but if you miss out on this… don’t worry… the à la carte menu is stunning!
What to order:
Slow braised ox cheek, creamy truffle mash, calamari, courgette, tiger prawns, artichoke crisps.

Bacaro – Castle Street
It’s hardly a surprise that Salt House Tapas’ sister restaurant Bacaro is another must try in the city. Instead of Spanish style tapas though… you now have Italian! These guys also serve up a great lunch menu for £16.95 for 3 plates. They can include delicious pizzettes and pasta dishes.
The restaurant is based on Castle Street and has a relaxing ambience inside – and they can certainly shake up some stunning cocktails too!
What to order:
Pizzette – wild mushroom, ricotta, black truffle.
The creamy ricotta brings together the earthy notes of the mushroom and black truffle… in what can only be described as a flavour party in your mouth!

El Gato Negro – Exchange Flags
This place has got to have one of the prettiest outdoor terraces in Liverpool. Set in a corner of Exchange Flags… you’re literally surrounded by beautiful listed buildings and gazing straight at the iconic Town Hall. Enjoying your tapas al fresco, sat in their fully covered and heated patio area is definitely the way you want to experience this place.
There’s a 3 for £18 offer on Available Monday–Friday 12–5pm & Saturday 12–4pm. They even do their tipsy tapas Available Friday 12–5pm & Saturday 12–4pm… you get to enjoy three dishes listed on the dedicated menu plus bottomless drinks for 90 minutes for £38 per person.
What to order:
Salt cod fritters with tartare sauce.
These are available on the 3 for £18 menu and they’re absolutely delicious.

Tapas Revolution – Queen Square
Tapas Revolution brings authentic Spanish tapas, large sharing plates, sangria & cocktails to the heart of Queen Square. It’s a stone’s throw to Liverpool bus station and under-five minutes’ walk from Liverpool Lime Street station.
While the menu stays true to traditional, authentic tapas, the look and concept is reminiscent of airy, modern-day Barcelona or Ibiza.
They have a great set menu that can be shared between 2, for example their Classico Set Menu is 5 dishes including Calamari and Jamón Croquettes for £32.50 between you.
What to order:
Croquetas De Jamón – signature Jamón Iberico croquettes served with spicy alioli and Manchego cheese.
Available on the set menu – they very very moorish, if you love a nice croquette you will not be disappointed.

So Salsa – Castle Street
So Salsa is a family run tapas restaurant offering quality fresh tapas dishes from cuisines across the globe, not just Spain. They first opened their doors in 2010 in Crosby, and now they’re sharing their passion for great tapas with the City Centre of Liverpool.
Their lunch menu is 3 plates for £18 and is available Monday to Thursday 12pm – 4pm.
What to order:
Calamari – Crispy squid rings with garlic mayonnaise
Is it really tapas without a portion of calamari on your table? This is actually crispy calamari – like it has an actual crunch, not like the soggy stuff you can sometimes get… these are *chefs kiss*.
