Grand National 2023: All of the latest as it happens at Aintree with The Guide Liverpool

This is it the main event of The Grand National at Aintree Racecourse!

It’s a race like no other. There’s a reason the world stops to watch The Randox Grand National at Aintree Racecourse. From the length of the course to the size of the crowd, this is an epic event! 

As always, we at The Guide will be there giving live coverage of the action, on and off the course, so it goes without saying we’re very excited.

The Randox Grand National Steeple Chase has been delayed

An official delay has been issued as protestors have gained access to the racecourse at Aintree.

4.49pm:

Never mind the dress code being relaxed, the outfits at Aintree today are some of the best we’ve seen. Gem has found some of her faves.

The dress code was relaxed this year at Aintree meaning you can pretty much wear what you like, but that hasn’t impacted on the style levels today!

Everyone is heading to the track!

The first race is about to set off and everyone is heading over to the track at Aintree Racecourse as the event officially starts!

It’s a glorious day at Aintree Racecourse with thousands of people now in attendance, and Pete Price is back on the loose chatting to some of those people as the countdown begins for the big race.

There’s a brass band, there’s DJ’s including In Demand Radio at the Red Rum Garden. There’s so much happening today at Aintree and the atmosphere is absolutely electric – it’s gonna be a phenomenal day at the races.

Ladies Day recap

Jay, Gemma, and Pete sign off from a very damp day at Aintree yesterday. But the weather certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of racegoers.

Today is set for sunny skies with highs of 14°C.

Grand National 9.01am:

Travelling to Aintree

The easiest way to travel to Aintree Racecourse is by train. Merseyrail have updated their timetable for travelling to today’s Grand National. They are operating a seven-and-a-half minute service running between Liverpool city centre and Aintree station. 

Watch as Suzanne Grant from the Merseyrail team has all the info. And don’t forget you can pickup your free flip-flops on your way back into town!
