Hawksmoor launches limited-edition menu items to celebrate opening of Chicago Site
6 months ago
Never wanting anyone from this side of the pond to miss out, today also sees the launch of new Chicago-inspired menu specials in all UK restaurants.
The limited-edition Chicago Beef roll is Hawksmoor’s tasty tribute to the iconic Chicago sandwich. It’s made with dry-aged roast rump, topped with giardiniera (spicy pickled vegetables), and served with dipping gravy and lemon and rosemary fries. Be warned, it’s messy!
The history of “Italian beefs”, as they’re known in Chicago, dates to Neapolitan immigrants who moved to the city a century ago. When a couple married, the neighbourhood held a low cost ‘peanut wedding’ and needed a cheap, tasty way to feed many people. The result was a glorious mound of shaved beef topped with giardiniera in a soft bread roll ready to be dunked in the pan juices.
The Atomic Sundae, an homage to Chicago’s gravity-defying Atomic cake, is a smash of three cakes, strawberries, custard, whipped cream, fudge sauce and Hawksmoor’s own roasted banana ice cream.
The Chicago Beef roll (£15 on its own or £25 including the Atomic Sundae and a drink) is available during Monday to Saturday lunchtime only from today to Wednesday, 31st July.
Furthermore, Hawksmoor is giving all its newsletter subscribers in the UK and Ireland a chance to win a trip to Chicago for two people, including return flights from London, a three-night hotel stay and dinner at Hawksmoor Chicago.
