Tate Liverpool has welcomed an influx of visitors keen to get up close with the incredible work of artist and activist, Keith Haring. Documenting 1980’s subculture in New York City, Haring’s murals, symbols and mixed media artwork spoke for a generation and represented life from the bohemian East Village to the gritty subway stations and beyond.
Open now and running until 10th November, this exhibition is a real eye-opener. Colours, textures, political and sexual messages are conveyed in many different, inspiring ways that wouldnât look out of place on the streets of any major city today.

Produced by Soul Jazz records in collaboration with Tate Liverpool, this 17 track triple LP album is three records of the music central to Keith Haringâs life and art. A combination of rare disco, early electro and New York punk/dance tracks reflect Haringâs vibrant world of downtown New York in the 1980s.
When working overseas, Haring kept in touch with the New York music scene by listening to mixtapes, and these mixtapes provide some of the inspiration for this collection, capturing a flavour of Haringâs wide-ranging musical influences and connections.
