Here’s 8 things you probably didn’t know about Lana Del Rey ahead of her Echo Arena gig

The stunning Lana Del Rey performs at the Echo Arena on 22nd August, in one of just three UK tour dates, once again putting Liverpool on the map as a must-play destination for international artists.

The NYC native chose Liverpool alongside London and Glasgow to celebrate the release of her most recent and critically acclaimed album ‘Lust for Life’ which features ASAP Rocky, Sean Ono Lennon and The Weekend……and we hear it’s going to be a sell out.

Having just announced a world tour and a forth coming video for single ‘White Mustang’, the Grammy nominated, BRIT Award winning songstress will bring her unique Americana sound to Liverpool for a one-night-only, unmissable show. Check out our top facts and see if you’re Lana’s number one fan.

Here’s 8 things you probably didn’t know about Lana Del Rey…

1 – Lana Del Who?

As with many successful artists, Lana tried out various other stage personas before settling on her current old school Hollywood name. Born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, she chose Lana Del Rey after spending time in Miami with friends from Cuba!

2 – The Wedding Singer

Did you know that Lana Del Rey performed at the pre-wedding celebrations of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at the Palace of Versailles in Paris in 2013?

3 – The Rise of Ultraviolence

Lana’s third album ‘Ultraviolence’ was release in June 2014 and debuted at number one in more than 12 countries including the USA and UK. The album sold 880,000 copies in its first week.

4 – Big Screen Success

Hollywood actress, Angelina Jolie chose Lana Del Rey to record the song ‘Once Upon A Dream’ from Disney’s 1959 film, Sleeping Beauty, to feature in the 2014 dark fantasy film ‘Maleficent’.

5 – Think Ink

Lana is reported as having a number of tattoos including the letter ‘M’ on her left hand, which is said to be a tribute to her grandmother Madeline, joined by the word ‘Paradise’. She is also said to have ‘trust no one’ ‘Nina, Billie, Whitney, Amy’ tattooed across her chest and ‘die young’ on her finger. Some pain threshold that!

6 – A True Red

Lana reportedly admitted in an interview in 2012 that she is a Liverpool FC Fan. Enough said.

7 – Style & Class

In February 2016 actress Noomi Rapace presented Lana Del Rey with the ‘Best Female of the Year’ gong at the Elle Style Awards, Lana’s first UK appearance in a while.

8 – Heroes

Having developed a truly unique sound, Lana’s list of favourite artists, influences and songs is, as expected very long! However she’s cited ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles and Janis Joplin’s live version of ‘Summertime’ as two of her faves. She’s also listed The Godfather as a favourite film and has been described as ‘a self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra’.

There’s still a limited number of tickets available for the Tuesday 22nd August 2017 gig at Echo Arena, click here to get yours. Ensure you read all the info on age restrictions and the re-selling of tickets before you buy.
