Liverpool’s celebrating the birthday of one of its favourite and most famous places to stay.
The Hope Street Hotel is 20 this year, and it’s already got off to a great start.
The chic boutique venue has just been named Hotel of the Year in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards 2024 – proof that two decades after it began, it continues to get better and better.
Owner and chief executive Dave Brewitt says:
“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years. Sometimes it feels like it’s gone in a flash, and other times it seems like an eternity since we decided to build a hotel. It’s a unique hotel.
“Every room is different, the way we set up is different, we’ve got an amazing restaurant…
“It’s never easy running any business, it’s a tough job. The fun really is the hotel, the hotel staff, and the hotel guests. It’s an endlessly interesting and exciting place to be.”
Set almost centrally is one of the city’s most iconic streets, and surrounded by incredible landmarks, there’s no doubting the almost perfect location of Hope Street Hotel.
But it’s what Dave Brewitt has created there that’s led to its continued success.
The building itself is beautiful. Developed on the site of a former furniture warehouse, it has held on to many of its original features, like the pink Cheshire brick and the iron pillars, and the solid oak and birch floors.
It is simple and contemporary, while remaining hugely stylish.
Hope Street Hotel prides itself on the amazing service it offers to all its guests, along with the fabulous facilities that attract them and so many people from the city to its doors.
The hotel has two restaurants. One, The London Carriage Works, has two AA Rosettes and an AA Notable Wine Award and, since it opened, has established itself as one of the city’s best fine dining destinations with a carefully curated menu, and an experience that excels for all those special occasions.
The newer 1931 restaurant serves pizza, pasta, salads and sharing boards diners can enjoy the open kitchen, and has a great menu that takes its inspiration from the trade routes that came through Liverpool in the year of its title.
A spa that was added in only 2021 has already gone on to be named the Best City Spa in the Good Spa Guide Awards 2023.
It offers luxurious treatments and amazing packages, which you can enjoy along with its indoor swimming pool, outdoor courtyard vitality pool, Himalayan salt sauna, herbal sauna, aroma steam room, tepidarium, and relaxation areas – and some of the best views of the city.
And the events Hope Street Hotel holds just add to its appeal and success, from regular Rooftop yoga evenings and special screenings in its private and exclusive cinema, to an Alternative Ladies Day to coincide with the Grand National Festival at Aintree and evenings like Off The Wall! A Winemakers’ Dinner.
Hope Street Hotel is clearly going to keep moving forward, with only one thing staying the same – its commitment to its guests and hospitality that’s at the top of what Liverpool can offer.
The message then from Dave Brewitt and everyone in the city? “Happy birthday Hope Street Hotel…” And wishing you many more to come!
