Jacaranda Records Have Signed a 10 year collaboration agreement
5 years ago
Jacaranda Records have signed the accelerating Liverpool act Shards on a 10-year collaboration agreement.
The deal, which will see the rising Liverpool four piece – a widely tipped tastemakers favourite who’ve enjoyed sustained support from BBC Radio 6 Music – return to the studio to work on a series of Immersive Audio releases ahead of a number of summer festival dates.
Ray Mia, Jacaranda Records’ Capomaestro, said: “This is a deal about musicality. As a label Jacaranda is searching for a sound that elegantly encapsulates Liverpool, and Shards are a deeply evocative band, speaking to the music of the city’s past, present & future in a new, innovative and deeply creative way. Good tunes… Good vibes… That’s what we’re working to achieve.”

“But talent isn’t the only thing an artist needs to make a breakthrough. Surviving in this business requires hard work, maturity, an open mind and the ability to work with a team to achieve a shared aim.
“Shards have got what it takes. We’ve been working with the lads for several months now and they’ve listened, grafted, and stepped up to grasp the opportunity that’s opened up for them. They’ve shown us that they deserve our investment, our commitment and our time – and I’m delighted for them.”
The signing caps off a successful year for Shards after the band’s self-released first track, the soaring ‘Reflections’, earned the indie guitar outfit a flurry of national and local radio airtime together with a glut of notable gigs supporting the likes of Black Honey, Zuzu and Tim Burgess.
Dave Crane of DC Management, Shards’ representative, added: “Driven by a wall of shimmering guitars, powerful bass lines, propulsive percussion and distinctive vocals, Shards offer something special, speaking to a generation of young music fans in a way few indie bands have the musicality to do.

“While we’ve attracted a lot of interest in the band, there was really only one place we wanted to go. We’re thrilled to be working with Jacaranda Records and are excited about what’s on the horizon.”
